Legendary Pictures: Godzilla -- An epic rebirth to Toho's iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world's most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. Gareth Edwards directs Godzilla, which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, and Juliette Binoche, with David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston. The screenplay is by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont, and Dave Callaham. Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing with Mary Parent and Brian Rogers. Alex Garcia and Patricia Whitcher are the executive producers, alongside Yoshimitsu Banno and Kenji Okuhira. The film is from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures.

GODZILLA will stomp into theaters May 16, 2014.

Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack which came out in 2001 is my favorite Godzilla film. He's just straight ruthless in it, and kind of sadistic in the way he killed the other monsters in the movie.

godzilla & the hulk have a lot in common.

godzilla created by hydro bomb testing.
hulk created by gamma bomb testing.

both are green.

both are fueled by rage.

both leave destruction in their path.

@marvel72: "godzilla & the hulk have a lot in common." Both are also misunderstood and harassed by the army. Both were drawn by Herb Trimpe in the comics. Godzilla was originally gray, not green--but so was the Hulk!

I really hope that "the JAWS approach" doesn't mean that Godzilla is going to stick to the shadows and only be seen at night or during the rain. That is how most monsters are portrayed now (CLOVERFIELD being a prime example), and I'm getting tired of it. It worked for JAWS, but when people pay to see a GODZILLA movie, they expect to see Godzilla! With today's superior special effects due to CGI, I don't understand why filmmakers feel the need to hide the monsters and only show you partial glimpses. In the old days, you would always see the monster, no matter how fake or silly it looked. What are today's filmmakers so afraid of?

@capaware I don't think the filmmakers are necessarily afraid but rather they would like to build suspense, showing the monster too much breaks the tension and makes it less scary. I know today's audiences like to have everything "RIGHT NOW!" so to speak but that usually leads to no suspense.

@Sephit: Building suspense is fine, as long as the audience eventually gets to SEE the monster completely. But some movies like CLOVERFIELD only give you brief glimpses. Both the original GODZILLA, KING OF THE MONSTERS and TriStar's GODZILLA show you glimpses of the monster in the beginning and build to Godzilla's first full appearance, after which you see the monster fully for the rest of the film (the only difference being that in the TriStar version, you wish you HADN'T seen it). If Legendary's GODZILLA does that, that's fine. I just don't want to feel cheated because they only show quick glimpses of the monsters. The movie is called "GODZILLA" and that's who the audience is paying to see, so I hope we get to actually see him.
