Enjoy all those new movies in stunning 3D? Looking forward to Clash of the Titans and all our beloved upcoming CBM's? Well, the time has come to pay the piper, or in this case, the movie theaters. Analysts are saying ticket prices for the 3D package could go up as high as 26% starting immediately this weekend.
It was said that the average 3D surcharge ran between $2 and $3 but some theaters could be charging $3.50 or more and, in large markets like New York and Los Angeles, the charge could be as much as $5 or more. The numbers, which came from a Wall Street media analyst, do not include extra fees for IMAX 3D.
According to Wall Street Journal:
The new prices take effect Friday in many markets across the country in theaters owned by such major exhibitors as Regal Entertainment Group, Cinemark Holdings Inc. and AMC Entertainment Inc.
