FINALLY! Captain America Returns!

Writer Ed Brubaker brings back Steve Rogers, the one true Captain America, in CAPTAIN AMERICA REBORN!

The brutal assassination plot concocted by the Red Skull to have Captain America's own former lover, Sharon Carter, murder him and deliver his baby into the Skull's hands was only part of the incredibly intricate (and popular) storyline that Ed Brubaker has been weaving for the past five years. Now, two years after Captain America was killed, Brubaker plans to bring him back in Captain America Reborn.

Brubaker told Marvel.com:

"This is a chance to really explore how things have changed in the years since Steve's death and really delve deep into who Steve Rogers is and why he became Captain America. It's really a (story) with two or three different plotlines that all intertwine, which is a lot of fun and allows us to have (both) in-your-face action and quiet character moments."

Added editor Tom Brevoort:

"Reborn is a story that spans the Marvel Universe," promises Brevoort. "We'll see the usual cast of Captain America regulars, (including) the Black Widow, Sharon Carter (and) the Falcon, as well as the Vision, Hank Pym, Reed Richards and the Avengers. On the other side of the coin, we'll be dealing with not only the Red Skull, but Norman Osborn, Doctor Doom and a few other surprises as well."

Captain America Reborn #1 hits stands July 1st!

They will probably use the cosmic cube to bring him back. So much for Thanos's promise that no one will be able to return from death any more.

Till they cast Jensen Ackles as Cap...Make Mine Marvel!

BOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Doesn't anyone ever stay dead? Apparently thats why these heroes are so brave- if they die, they'll just be brought back to life!!

His resurrection will completely invalidate the entire Civil War storyline.

Death is meaningless. Stop toying with my emotions, Captain America!

That's True, ReddHotPoker is right the heroes are so damn brave because they can come back over and over, it's only a matter of time before Bruce Wayne comes back. I hope I'm wrong though.

Bad biz, I was just starting to enjoy the New Bucky Cap which is kind of a more modernized version of the original. I don't want Steve Rogers to return at all, I liked the original Cap but honesty I think he ran his course as Captain America and Bucky should is just now cementing his place. Bringing back Steve Rogers will only hurt Bucky Cap in the long run.

I dont think they should have killed him in the first place if they were just going to pussy out and bring him back to life. His death meant something for Gods sake! Now it means something else..Cash has taken over from good story telling completely

I had no idea they went this far with the captain america story. Color me impressed. I never would'a thought they had the balls!

When he comes back he'll get promoted to Admiral America. He'll have those hair brush things on his shoulders.

Could we be seeing the return of The Nomad? If Barnes will remain Captain America, I'd think so... But I also think Rogers won't return to the public view until the Initiative is just about completely falling apart. Toward the end of Dark Reign.

Anil, do you think he might even be instrumental to the end of Dark Rein? Oh wait, you kind of said that.

Maybe Steve will be the new head of H.A.M.M.E.R. or S.H.I.E.L.D. when Osborn is booted out, while Bucky stays on as Cap. It would be a good excuse to keep Nick Fury busy in his own monthly comic.

Jason Lewis and Jensen Ackles can share a penis. I'd say give Matt Salinger another chance with a better budget and more potential. Woo hoo! I actually watched that movie more than twice. Yeah!

The "death" of Captain America was a cheap shock ploy to sell the Shitvil War, and give it "meaning". Bringing him back is another cheap ploy designed to sell more books. I'm sick and damn tired of cheap shocks being used as a ploy to sell more books. Just give us good and imaginative storylines, and the books will sell themselves.

That said, I don't want to infer anything bad about Brubaker's writing on Cap's title. That book has remained as one of the best thing Marvel is publishing ever since Brubaker started on it. And while Bucky/Cap has done an admirable job of filling in for Steve, he'd be the first one to step aside the minute he saw the real Steve again.

JohnnyKrypton - 6/17/2009, 7:30 AM
Marvel and Brubaker had always planned on bringing Steve back, its just a story arc and was never inteneded to be the new status quo(originally Bru had planned to have him back by #30). No surprises here. Welcome back, Cap.
