As a small-town girl catapults from underground video sensation to global superstar, she and her three sisters begin a one-in-a-million journey of discovering that some talents are too special to keep hidden. In Universal Pictures’ JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS, four aspiring musicians will take the world by storm when they see that the key to creating your own destiny lies in finding your own voice.

Directed by Jon M. Chu (G.I. Joe: Retaliation), the musical adventure stars Aubrey Peeples, Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau, Hayley Kiyoko, Ryan Guzman, Molly Ringwald and Juliette Lewis. Jem and the Holograms, based on the iconic Hasbro animated TV series, is written by Ryan Landels and produced by Chu, Jason Blum for Blumhouse Productions, Scooter Braun for SB Projects, Bennett Schneir, and Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis of Hasbro. It's set to be released on October 23rd.

I know a lot of the complaints about this movie, concerning those from the users here, have been how formulaic and cliched it looks..

This movie would kick ass if it took place during 1986. But the fact that it takes place modern day, makes it unbearable. I couldn't even finish the trailer. Take a note from Kavinsky. If it sounds like cheesy 80's pop culture, make it look like it's in the 80's.

Really? They took a big flashy 80's cartoon about a girl who becomes a pop star with the help of holograms (or some shit, I don't know), and they go and turn it into a generic, inspirational, teen girl movie? It still probably wouldn't have been any good if they kept to the original source material, but at least it could have been creative, and interesting.

WTF?

I'm not super familiar with the show, but weren't they kind of like female ninja turtles or GI Joes? Like, I know they played music, but they also had actual adventures, right?

I liked the cartoon too... I mean I was very young but it was pretty bonkers and creative. This is... not. Wasted opportunity to make a campy sci-fi comedy.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!! What the…..?

Not like I ever cared about this franchise, this looks absolutely terrible.

100% agree with TheGambitFreak, should have been in the 80's and this is one of the few trailers I could not watch all the way through.

Flippity-flippty-flop to this pile. Young girls aren't gonna be dumb enough for this crap.
