Jack Thorne To Write SANDMAN For Warner Bros. And Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Deadline reveals that Jack Thorne will write the screenplay for Sandman based on the pitch from David Goyer to Warner Bros and based on the classic Neil Gaiman comic book. Joseph Gordon-Levitt will produce with Goyer, and it's still hoped that he will both star and direct. Gaiman is also set to serve as executive producer. For those of you unfamiliar with Sandman, it is described as follows: "The Sandman series shifts between horror and fantasy, and the central character is Morpheus, the personification of dreams. After being held captive 70 years, Morpheus escapes, gains revenge and rebuilds his crumbling kingdom while trying to adapt to the times." The site adds that it was Goyer who managed to "crack the subject matter" and it could be a new franchise for the studio. How do you guys feel about this news? Sound off below!

I guess "crack the subject matter" is Hollywood speak for "actually read as is familiar with the source material."

I remain cautiously optimistic.

I'm still amazed people consider some of the soulless dialogue in MoS to be great scenes. Remove the pretty visuals that Zach is a master at and the score and you are left with soulless dialogue.

Goyer has definitely done some great work...

Blade I and Blade II, whatever his credits were on the Dark Knight Trilogy.

He gets hate just like Jeph Loeb, some deserved, some not.

A bit like how Geoff Johns is attached to Superman/Batman but his role is to do [frick] all except walk around and talk to people on set? He's attached, but he can do no harm.

My grandfather is married to his aunt.

Did you know Steve-o's dad is the President and CEO of Pepsi South America? He never need to do Jackass to get rich, he was rich beforehand. His aunt, my step-grandmother is rich as hell. So's my gramps, but he's a damn politician.
