Yup! the newest WBO welterweight champion of the world, who got his seventh title in seven different weight divisions, is exchanging his boxing shorts for tights.
Manny Pacquaio who is already a superhero in the eyes of his countrymen, will continue his transformation into a colored costumed adventurer in his upcoming Filipino Superhero movie entitle - WAPAKMAN!
Here's a brief intro on the movie:
The movie is a science fiction comedy, with Manny Pacquiao as the lead character, an ordinary man who developed super powers. Topel Leed directs, The film would be an official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival which takes place during Christmas.
Filipino sexy comedienne Ruffa Mae Quinto is the leading lady of Manny Pacquiao for the movie "Wapakman." It shoud be noted that Nicole Scherzinger, lead singer of the group Pussycat Dolls, was suppposedly the one who will be the partner of the pound-for-pound boxing champ, but was replaced instead because of conflict of schedule.
WWE Batista (David Michael Bautista), would be the villain in this film.
There are also rumors circling that Lou Diamond Philips will be in the film, Lou does have Filipino Heritage in him.
I am just not sure if this movie will see the light of day in other countries. [Which in my opinion might not really be a bad idead :)]. I'm proud of my heritage but I do know that the quality of our films especially this sci-fi films are not really for the World market. Though I know that someday we will be able to compete in this arena... though not yet.
