"They've never talked to me about the 'Lone Ranger,' " Newell said in an MTV interview.

"I know it's there," he said of the "Ranger" property. "The thing that interested me was those two names — George Clooney playing the Lone Ranger and Depp playing Tonto. I thought that was a piece of casting so stuffed with wonderful comic possibilities, I remember saying to my agent, 'Geez, if that's what they want from it, boy would I kill for that.'"

"I think it would make a very, very funny movie if you had Johnny Depp and George Clooney," he said.

head on to MTV for complete article.

Hearing George Clooney's name attached to this send shivers to my bones, I still can't shake out of my head the Batman and Robin fiasco. But hey everybody can be given second chances right? .... *crickets*

-ACCESS out. Godspeed and MABUHAY!

George may have sucked so hard in Batman in Robin that you could pull a bowling ball through a garden hose, but he has made some really good movies since. Since me and a buddy dressed as the Gecko Brothers from "From Dusk Till Dawn" I really can't give the guy to much guff.

I am willing to give Clooney a pass on B & R. There were so many other things much worse on that. He worked with what he had and has become a MUCH better actor since then. Although I wouldn't mind seeing him & Depp in a Lone Ranger movie, it doesn't seem to have the right feel to it. Older actors going for comedic version does not sound good to me at all!

Ass sphecter says what?
NO,NO,NO,NO,NO,AND NO
screw George Clooney for the Lone Ranger and a stink will rise if they go comedic route with the Lone Ranger.
The Lone Ranger must be a serious western or don't do it all......
