MirageMan Gets 3D Remake

A Chiliean martial arts/superhero film that may not sound familiar to many on American soil will receive a 3D remake following its underground success overseas.

The latest "superhero" film to receive the remake treatment comes from Chile, which was released last year by the name of "MirageMan." Not only will the film make its way to American theaters in the not-too-distant future but the remake will be titled "Defender 3D." Yes...the 3D at the end of the title means the film will follow suit with the recent Hollywood trend of the third dimension.

During this year’s annual film festival in Texas known as "Fantastic Fest," producers of the film announced the news. For those who would like to view the original film, the US DVD release occurs on October 6th, 2009.

"MirageMan" is an action-packed film that stars Latino martial artist and stuntman Mark Zaror as a power-less fighter who dawns a ski mask with weird goggles to keep the streets safe.

This will be cool, Latin American (2nd BitchAzz) films are usually fast paced and wickely sexy. So bring on some James Bond like Action and we have an International Hit!

Damn you Lee777!!!!

ok! my favorite part of that clip is a tie.... When he does a backflip after kicking that guy... is just perfect. And the other is when he is hiding behind that Magazine cart and the International news Paper thief "Hector the Collector" tries to score big, but NO! The Defender is there to save the day!!!! love it.

Thanks Leee777 and Teabag

I actually became a bit excited hearing about this transition towards the American market because I've never heard of the movie until today. It does seem to have potential to be brought in an action packed light so hopefully it'll be a smooth transition

Yeah the original version does seem to campy but it definitely won't look this way with the remake...well, hopefully

Andy Cheng (stunt choreographer with Jackie Chan a few years ago) is producer and director as well as co-writer.
Here's the website for Defender 3D which should start filming early 2010. And you are right whispers...it's not campy at all. Some drama and tons of great action

I think what I like most about Defender is that this time you'll be able to see Marko Zaror's face as he's doing the fight scenes and such. In Mirageman, his face was completely covered up. And like I mentioned, not as campy. Think of it this way, The original, Mirageman, is more like the TV series of Bat Man while Defender 3D will be more like Dark Knight

This is the second movie of Marko Zaror the first one was Kiltro (the first martial arts movie made in Chile), he used to work as stunt man in the US you can se him in "The Rundown" making lots of stunts as the Rock.

Check our the Kiltro´s movie trailer from 2006

This is also at least the second time Marko has worked with Andy Cheng. Andy was the 2nd unit director and stunt choreographer on Rundown with him.
