Moon Knight heads to Los Angeles as a one-man Avengers team to dissolve a criminal syndicate tearing the City of Angels apart. Except there will be no warm welcome, because once word gets out about Marc Spector’s arrival, the mastermind behind LA’s crime circuit will stop at nothing to make an example of any Avengers who cross him. Plagued by incurable schizophrenia, can Moon Knight hold it together to clear out a city riddled with villains? This May, two of comics’ biggest talents reunite to redraw, and redefine one of Marvel’s Big Shots, only in Moon Knight #1!

all you guys are smoking your front yards..Moon Knight is a f'n great character! He would kick Batman's ass all up and down the street! I would give my left nutt to see a Moon Knight movie directed by the guy who did the first Blade movie...

Batman ripoff! Ya'll don't know nothin' bout Moon Knight!

If nothing else, he's way more psychotic...or at least psychotic in a totally different way.

christ's sake, how many times are they going to reboot this series? this is the 3rd Moon Knight #1 in like 5 years.

and no, Moon Knight is about the furthest thing from a Batman knockoff...

@ mass executions

too many people on this site don't know about comics. a lot of them just make judgements on what they THINK they know.

Moon Knight is nothing like Batman aside from being a vigilante.

Moon knight is pretty cool, definetely unique and original, but dident he just get restarted twice in the past five years, there was the 2006 run which was really good, and then in 2009 Vengeance of the Moon Knight, which I dident read, does anyone know why those ended and why theyre starting another volume? I mean I know this is comics but still.....
And whats up with the one man avenger thing? does he have all theyere powersw or somethin?
btw the Cap cover is pretty sweet.

@CorndogBurglar - Oh, he has a few more things in common with Batman.

1) His costume is mostly one color.

2) He throws things that are the same shape as the symbol on his chest.

3) He flies something that's the same shape as the symbol on his chest.

Oh crap! I just proved myself wrong! They are exactly the same character!

(I mean, the Egyptian god, the actual superpowers, the mercenary back ground, and the multiple personality disorder stuff aren't that big of a deal.)

Dang it! I just realized he's also the exact same character as Blue Beetle! Maybe even more so!

Corndogburgler is correct.

Moon Knight and Batman are very very different. The only siliarities are purely superficial ones.

What is it? The cape? Oh wait... lots of super heroes have capes.

Is it the utility belt? hmmmm yeah there's quite a number of heroes that have that going on as well.

One color costume? Actually Batman's costume is usually not one color. It's often gray and black or gray and navy blue or something like that. So in the monochrome department Moony might actually have him beaten. But yeah, there again not much the same.

So then there's the symbol on the chest. Everybody from Longshot to The Living Tribunal has that going on. It's common among comicbook characters. So if your going to say that MK and Batman are the same because of that then you would also be saying that that makes him like Supersaber, Wonderman, Dazzler, Storm had it for a while, Ms. Marvel, Superman, so on and so forth.

And as for the little throwing blades, Moon Knight has always used some kind of thing like that but only recently has it been drawn in a little crescent moon shape. They used to be just these flat bladed things with some kind of heiroglyphs on em. So I suppose you could say that's similar, but it has been that way only since the mid '90's

I just hope this isn't a $3.99 per issue series.
Bendis and Maleev aren't a drawcard for me either.

I'll buy the series because I like the character.

I hate Moon Knight, but Bendis + Maleev = Pure Win. I like sending him to LA, too. There are enough costumed vigilantes running around Marvel's NY.

He's been taller than people since Bryan Singer got a hold of him. Plus, for anyone familiar with 1990's pro wrestling, the pic of Moon Knioght behind Wolverine looks like Diesel and Shawn Michaels.

As a fan of his since the WEREWOLF BY NIGHT DAYS in the mid to late 70's till his first series in 1980, I always equated him to Batman. Spector was cool and more of a ladies man than Wayne and was a little more grittier than his DC counterpart. I agree that he's the kind of character that could be a sleeper hit much in the vein of Blade and might launch even more interest in C and D list characters... I remember a few years ago...Disney took out a full page ad saying that they were going to focus on producing movies starring characters like Moon Knight... interestingly enough the ad they printed in the WALL STREET JOURNAL was a pic of NOVA. ...which gave me hope that they would do a film on him or DR.STRANGE or IRON FIST so I don't know ... MOON KNIGHT wouldn't cost them an arm and a leg but should have an equal dose of intrigue/action/romance... it should be cleverly written and should be grounded in reality... much in the vein of the Nolan Batman series.

Moon Knight is not a Batman rip off! Yes the concept is similiar but Moon Knight will do the things Batman will never do. He will kill a guy hwne he realizes that he will not give up and even take a trophy such as the person's face. He dresses in white because he wants to be seen and he wants people to be scared when they see him. Plus he's got multiple personalities and is willing to take a beating just to put in a few good hits on who he is fighting. He is quite opposite from Batman.
Jones52j

Moon Knight gets enchanced strength, speed, and edurance from an egyptian God (Not Batman). He has killed quite a few people. And not like they fell off a roof by accient. Walked up and killed them. (Not Batman). His very being is imbued with mystic powers. Even Dr. Strange recognizes this. (Not Batman)...... I can keep going but I think by now I've proven he is far from Batman. He fights at night and has throwing objects... and as above posters have said plenty of people do this.

I thought the original concept behind Moonknight was basically to rip-off Batman and all the differences came later? The Super-powers, the mysticism, the Schizo stuff.

I dislike his costume. A white costume makes no sense to me. I mean if you're supposed to be this stealthy, nocturnal vigilante shouldn't you be wearing some dark colors to blend into the shadows? I wish he was more like the Earth X Moonknight, god that costume was bad-ass and the fact that every-time he died he was resurrected almost instantly.

Never been a follower of Moonknight, kinda dug him in the Ultimate Universe, thought the art for that last run (prior to him getting killed by Venom or w/e happened) looked cool.

@ZombieOverEasy-- actually, Moon Knight used to be quite a bit less like Batman... he was introduced in "Werewolf By Night" as a mercenary hired by "the committee" to hunt down Jack Russell (the werewolf, if you didn't know). In his original incarnation, he actually gained his powers by being bitten by a werewolf, but the silver armor he was wearing at the time "burnt out" the infection before he turned, but left him with lunar-based super strength and agility.

Later, he became slightly more Batman-like, when he went from being a mercenary to a night-stalking vigilante... but then he went back to being way less like Batman when they introduced the whole Khonshu business

(or something like that...)

JohnTom88 - 4/6/2011, 10:37 PM
@ZombieOverEasy Dark costume is for sissy vigilante. Charlie Huston wrote it best in MK #1 5-6 years ago

Moon Knight: "Told him I don't wear white to hide myself, I wear it so they'll see me coming. So they know who it is, 'cause when they see white it doesn't matter how good a target I am. Their hands shake so bad, they couldn't hit the moon."

MK is not a stealthy character. He is in criminal face character. No he doesn't have super strength anymore but more gadget based and a lot of street smarts required. Remember, he's not a son of a rich socialite but just a son of a Rabbi. All his wealth is acquired through his life as mercenary or he's just good with money.
