New pictures of Chris Hemsworth on the set of Red Dawn has surfaced and as im sure you guys are aware, Hemsworth will be the man wielding Mjolnir in the upcoming "Thor" film.

Because "Thor" will begin filming in only about a month, obviously Hemsworth's stature in these photos are pretty much exactly how big he will be in the "Thor" film. I must say, he is looking pretty sick!

cookiepussproduction: I can say one thing, he definantly looks ready to pack a punch!

Looks like he'll be wearing a wig. Hope it looks real.
I also think he should have put on more weight, at least on the shoulders.
Ryden
Ryden - 12/11/2009, 1:54 PM
i think he's still going to be bulking up a little more before Thor begins to shoot, he's looking bigger though.

I think it's pretty sad that I could lift this guy and throw him around. He's too f**king small, he's supposed to be Thor. I can see they are going to have to have a suit with muscles sown in to it. Was it so hard to find an unknown 6-8 actor who can act and look like he can't walk though a door? This guy needs a miracle in the I need muscle department.

Hemsworth is going to do a great job as Thor.

Damn, he's a tall dude. Do we know for sure that FILMING starts in a month? Or is it pre-production? I would REALLY like to see his arms and shoulders be bigger! But all in all i'm warming up to the idea of him as THOR.

I'm very pleased that he's the pick for Thor. I have something in my gut telling me that he'll be along the lines of Christopher Reeve for the role here. And he is looking better built to be him

I have to admit I was actually disappointed at the idea of this guy playing Thor but after these photos I am looking forward to it.

You gotta know hes going to get even bigger for THOR as well.. how his body is built.. He could get jacked!
WarNoodle
WarNoodle - 12/11/2009, 3:56 PM
but yeah, kinda sad they are touching the movie of red dawn as a remake... that movie is a classic! and shouldn't be messed with... even though I am kinda carious what they do different.

Duhdaduh - 12/11/2009, 4:04 PM
what r u people talking about, the guy is looking big as hell!!! he is freakin busting thru that sweatshirt. i'd like to see pictures of half these guys saying they're so much bigger than hemsworth. i know thor should be big, and he prob will get even bigger before filming like u said ryden...hemsworth looks like the type that can gain mass relatively fast. but even so, despite thor's broad stature in comics, the dude doesnt have to be big as a house
ASSASSIN666
ASSASSIN666 - 12/11/2009, 4:33 PM
Duhdaduh- I have twenty inch arms, and I don't think that's even close to what Thor should have. I don't know what your definition of big is, but this guy isn't it. He looks in shape in a more cardio kind of way, not in a bodybuilder way. Thor should not look like he's running track, he should like he could throw the Hulk around if he had to.
Bijous
Bijous - 12/11/2009, 4:39 PM
I think he looks pretty beefed up. I'll withhold judgment til I see him in the Thor suit!
Duhdaduh
Duhdaduh - 12/11/2009, 5:15 PM
well thats true compared to some body builders i guess he does look smaller than he could, but damn i run track and that guy is a hell of a lot bigger than any runner i've ever seen

Why would they remake Red Dawn? Does every movie have to be updated?
Edge
Edge - 12/11/2009, 5:52 PM
Honestly, some of the complaints about these actors are ridiculous. Would you rather have a talentless giant (best case: John Cena, ie. awful) or a talented actor who bulks up reasonably?

As giant as Thor is supposed to be, so are Batman, Superman, Wolverine, Captain America, etc.... to some degree themselves. Body builders take years and years to get to where they are physically. Maybe you should start calling for Arnold if you're that annoyed at the choices being made.

I'm talking about bulk... Batman and Superman are bulky as hell. Regardless of what kind of style or powers they have, they still appear with huge muscles. Maybe not as much as Thor, but more than Christian Bale and Brandon Routh have put on. Because they aren't bodybuilders. They don't spend their lives getting big AND acting. The point about Cena is he has no acting talent.
ASSASSIN666
ASSASSIN666 - 12/11/2009, 6:37 PM
Edge- I think you need to go back and look at your comics again. First of all John Cena has the perfect build for Capt. America, and is not a giant by any means. Batman is not a muscle headed superhero, he has no powers and therefore in peak human condition. Wolverine is 5-4 in the damn comics, that does not qualify as giant unless you're way shorter then that. Superman also should not look like a steroid freak, he doesn't have to. He gets his power from Earth's yellow Sun, not a weight room. Thor is a f**king monster in the comics, and should look accordingly. Hope this puts you back in to perspective.

Red Dawn??? WTH???

I'm with Superdog. That is wrong. Russia has no motivation to invade us anymore. If they were going to steal the IDEA of Red Dawn, they ought to change the title to Cresent moon, or Crescent Dawn.

But it is ironic that Helmsworth who had 10 minutes on Trek is getting these big roles. Where's Pine?
DDD
DDD - 12/11/2009, 7:19 PM
Chris Hemsworth is 6'3"! He is plenty tall and will
be bulked up before Thor! You can bet on it!

Just look at him at the beginning of Star Trek when
he's walking behind FARAN TAHIR as the Captain of
the ship when they are walking to the corridor to
visit Nero's ship! He just towers over Faran!

RDJ is only 5'9"! Hemsworth is going to tower over
the rest of the Avengers cast!
Duhdaduh
Duhdaduh - 12/11/2009, 7:21 PM
umm i think hemsworth def has room to get bigger for thor, but he is in no way too small for the role as he is now. bigger is better but too big is unnecessary. overall i think he is a very good choice.
cena is ripped as hell but it would suck if he was capt america because he cant act.
Talontd
Talontd - 12/11/2009, 8:33 PM
DDD-

Haha! Good thing there is no chance of seeing Thor and Wolverine on screen, that wouldn't look proper in the least!

venom001 - 12/11/2009, 10:12 PM
@Assassin, so you're saying that Superman doesn't need to be big because he gets his powers from the sun. Thor is a GOD dude, he could be anorexic like Christian Bale in the Machinist and still throw people around. Kinda contradicted yourself on that point....just sayin.
Simonsonrules
Simonsonrules - 12/11/2009, 10:55 PM
Oh no he's not big enough! Hire Triple H! Hire the Big Show!

Sheesh.

Hemsworth hits the gym, Branagh gets a decent cinematographer, and we're golden.

Keep thinking so literally. That's what made Watchmen such a great film (sarcasm).

@Assassin: Sorry, but I don't want the dude on the cover of MuscleMag as Thor. You have to consider acting talent in your assessment of actor. He has to be able to carry a whole movie with an excellent supporting cast.

Demonslayerwolf - 12/11/2009, 11:10 PM
Superman should be bigger than Christopher Reeves, not trying to offend, I love the original sup movies, but, everyone wants to yell and scream about a comic book movie not being true to the comic, and yet, people are arguing about the size of the actor. Come on. To be true to the comics these people have to be buff and huge if the character is buff and huge. Yes, Thor is a god, to a people that pride themselves on physical strength and combat. Thor should be huge, impressive and intimidating, just like the vikings were to the rest of europe. No, at the time they were not 6'8", but they were still several inches taller than the average brittain, and much larger as well as stronger. To be true to the comic, Hemsworth needs to hit the gym hard, with proper trainers, nutrition, supplements, and maybe some super soldier syrum. I don't want to see another tall sqrawny dude running around in a skin tight captain america suit ever again. Oh, and yes, Conan should be huge as well.
ASSASSIN666
ASSASSIN666 - 12/11/2009, 11:30 PM
Venom- First off Superman was not always drawn like a muscle head, many artist have drawn him over the years. Superman was really first drawn huge when the steroid bodybuilding craze of the 80's was happening. Thor has always been big, I shouldn't have to point that out to you. I don't ever recall a time when Thor was drawn like an average man. No, he shouldn't look like he walked off of Venice Beach, but should resemble the comic as close as possible.
venom001
venom001 - 12/12/2009, 2:05 AM
@assassin, The movie hasn't even started shooting yet, give the guy sometime before you judge. Size doesn't always matter with CBM characters. Hugh Jackman is the perfect Wolverine, is he not? He doesn't resemble Wolverine from the comics at all, besides maybe the hair haha. Man you fan boys always find something to wine about, you complain that he's too small, the only people that could actually resemble Thor from the comics couldn't act if their lives depends on it. Then you would complain about that. Just be happy they found someone that can act and looks the role.

breakUbatman - 12/12/2009, 3:21 AM
He may not be big enough comic book wise but would a god really need Arnold type muscles? Surely the strength is mostly supernatural unlike the Hulk.........LOL just felt like being a nerd
