NSFW: New Stills From BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOR

Take a look at six new stills from the controversial 2013 Cannes Palme d'Or winner Blue Is The Warmest Color (an adaptation of Julie Maroh's graphic novel, "Le Bleu est Une Couleur"), featuring the movie's stars Léa Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos..

Acclaimed French filmmaker Abdellatif Kechiche’s latest, based on Julie Maroh’s graphic novel, was the sensation of this year’s Cannes Film Festival even before it was awarded the Palme d’Or. Adèle Exarchopoulos is a young woman whose longings and ecstasies and losses are charted across a span of several years. Léa Seydoux (Midnight in Paris) is the older woman who excites her desire and becomes the love of her life. Kechiche’s movie is, like the films of John Cassavetes, an epic of emotional transformation that pulses with gestures, embraces, furtive exchanges, and arias of joy and devastation. It is a profoundly moving hymn to both love and life.

This is the first film adapted from either a graphic novel or a comic to win the Palme d'Or. Blue Is The Warmest Color stars Adèle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux, and opens October 9th in France.

Isn't it based on a graphic novel? So it does have a place here.

Not my cup of tea, but to each their own I guess.

Post something with super heroes that's not based on a comic and it's totally fine.

Post something actually based on an indy comic and everybody loses their minds.

it really baffles me at the idiots throwing a fit that this is here. it says right in the description it's based on a graphic novel and considering how often the comment section is used to do nothing but post half-naked women, why the [frick] do you care?

cater to your audience and if your audience is a bunch of per-pubescent boys wacking off, why not show the only thing they respond to?

Wow Ror... I'm surprised you could get away with that fourth picture.

I'm not complaining about female nudity, but I'm just surprised you could post that up is all.

There is a lot of comic books in the world, superheroes are not the only thing that you can do in a paper, is a good thing that CBM talk about this.

At the same time this make me think about all the independent projects that never received the deserved credit, CBM talk about this because is a Cannes winner movie, but I am sure there's a lot of interesting movies that no receive prizes, have devoted much publicity about IronMan 3 in a lot of websites, tv and magazines, but I hated that movie, speak about a good and different comic book movie is interesting.

Many people say they hated Akira or TinTin just because they are not americans, stop hating, the european comics are great, just open your mind.

How nerdy can you be to just read about the same characters all your life?

Hello America!!!!

Yes its a french graphic novel, yes its like a comic book movie... but, and you're right, there is no super heroes in there... Its a very good novel adaptation and the real title is "La vie d'Adèle, le zèle du désir" from the book title "le bleu est une couleur chaude", its french, so, there a reason why they say that (because blue is the coldest color)...

DimitriFromParis - 10/8/2013, 2:16 AM
And again, its a good one, for "american peeples" = there is nipples!! boobs!!! and lesbian sex!!!

aahahahah I love america.... ;-)

What's NSFW about that?

Actually I feel somewhat comforted by the fact that there are adaptations of comics not featuring guys in spandex and girls in leotards beating up bad guys (although I still enjoy them), it means that perhaps people are starting taking comics seriously.

Can't wait for this one. Refreshing to have something based on a graphic novel that isn't superheroes. Don't see much of it nowadays.

From what I hear the graphic novel is pretty good.

From what I hear from the author and the actors, the director took the novel and made something pornographic, making them enacts sex scenes for long hours but having only be brief in the actual film, and forced the actresses to participate in real violent acts against each other that left them disturbed and refusing to work with the director ever again.

Neither the author nor the actors seem happy about the movie.
