It's a modern day fairy tale in which the long-standing peace between men and giants is threatened, as a young farmer leads an expedition into the giants' kingdom in hopes of rescuing a kidnapped princess. Director Bryan Singer is planning to begin filming Jack The Giant Killer this March in London from a script written by Mark Bomback, Darren Lemke and Christopher McQuarrie.

Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First Class) is playing the film's lead role, the peasant boy Jack who the adventure revolves around; Eleanor Tomlinson (Alice in Wonderland) is set to play a Princess and Jack's love interest. Stanley Tucci (Captain America) is set to play the film's main villain, Roderick; an adviser to the king who has plans to take over Cloister.

Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest) will portray the leader of the giants, Fallon. The giant Fallon will have two heads, with one being Nighy and the other John Kassir. Ian McShane (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) will portray King Brahmwell, who is none too thrilled about a union between his daughter the Princess and farmer boy Jack. New Line has scheduled Jack the Giant Killer

im kinda skeptical on this only because i saw the older version (70s? maybe?) a ridiculous amount of times as a kid... the one with lighting and effects much like the original Clash of the Titans... but i guess it could work for a new generation... it certainly enraptured me as a kid back then... but then again all the effects and whatnot they'll no doubt throw in to impress todays general public will ultimately destroy the simplicity that made it so good for me....

maybe they'll just keep remaking everything from that time... im looking forward to seeing Darren Aaronofsky cut and paste The Brave Little Toaster to live action and pass it off as art.... yea, ive seen Perfect Blue... Black Swan is a joke...

Although those suits of armour look like weird armoured gimp suits.

He looks loads like Eddie Izzard here lol.

It is a reboot/remake/rehollywoodhasnomoreideas. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056112/

Also "Sir" Ewan McGregor? Did king Arthur bloody appoint the court jester or some local bard to the status of Knighthood because they were a talented performer? I dunno about anyone else but maybe the should put all these performers with knighthoods on horses and have a proper joust.

"It's a modern day fairy tale"..?

That bit is confusing, since nothing else in the write up sounds remotely modern at all.

Jack the Giant Killer is a very old folktale/fairy tale not a news flash

Also don't confused the Disney distortions of timeless stories. So called fairy tales often don't end with a happy ending and really are pretty brutal. Ie an old lady/witch trying to canablize children but the children push her in the oven (Hansel and Grettle) A grandmother thats murdered and replaced by a werewolf type creature wanting to eat the visiting grand daughter. Gimme a break most modern tales are pretty lightweight and watered down
