With several films in the Marvel universe and film industry in general receiving a reboot or remake, Marvel head Avi Arad has announced after acquiring the rights to Popeye that he wishes to reboot the character on screen but definitely not in the same light as the film released many years ago.

Instead he has decided to reboot the character as a CGI animated feature.

Popeye was first released as a comic strip in 1929 but as time went by, his popularity grew into different forms of media such as a cartoon series and a theatrical film release on December 12, 1980.

One of his most current and memorable moments was done as satire on Family Guy.

C'mmon guys! Its Popeye the ultimate superhuman being-- he is like one -eyed - Hulk in in a sailor suit. Even without the Spinach he is tough as nails! Really wish it was a live action movie! Now who should best play him? Here are my suggestions:

1. Justin Theroux
2. Matthew McConaughey
3. Robert Downey Jr.
4. Jeremy Irons
5. Tom Cruz
6.Hugo Weaving

Of course I'm only joking! Still Popeye taught me that the bigger they are the harder they fall and its cool to have Goil ("girl" in Popeye's lingo).

By the way I really love the boobs and the butts. But my internet at home is down!! And I really hate the fact that here in my office I can only just have quick peek!

Reboot Popeye? He doesn't need a reboot. He's a timeless character, and so is his supporting cast. Just as 10thTiger said: A classic. Nuff said. He's like a one-eyed Chuck Norris.


All that's needed is to find some people who can do the voices, a writer or two with some funny ideas, and just sit back and enjoy. If someone has a good funny story for Popeye, I'd love to see it. It's been a while since anyone tried to do much with the character, and much longer since anyone did anything GOOD with him. Go back to the original comics and the original Fleischer cartoons for inspiration. There's some really funny stuff to be found there.
