ZACK SNYDER ON SUPERMAN
It was announced recently that The Watchmen director will be helming The Man of Steel which will be written by Jonathan Nolan and David S. Goyer
I’m happy with this choice. Although I did want Chris Nolan to do it, I think that Snyder will deliver with this one. Now I know that there has been a couple of people out there who think that he will make a two and a half hour slow-mo Superman film. Keep in mind that there are elements here that are not to be forgotten. Although, Chris Nolan will not be behind the director’s chair, he will be keeping the movie in check as a producer (Just in case Snyder gets carried away with some stuff). Plus, Snyder is a competent Film maker whether you admit it or not. He was responsible for 300, Watchmen, Legend of the Guardians and his oncoming flick, Sucker Punch.
As for the actors who will star in Man of Steel, I would like to see Kate Beckinsale for the role of Lois Lane and Billy Zane for Lex Luthor. It’s not just because he’s bald, I do really think that he is a good actor and underrated. Plus, I can see him as a suit-wearing genius Lex Luthor just like in the comics and not the previous films. As for Lois Lane, I think we need something like what Erica Durance did with her character in Smallville but with a more mature thinking. Kate Beckinsale was the first person that came in my mind.
As for the story, I really hope it’s not another origin or early life crap. I mean didn’t we have enough of that in Smallville and Superman Returns. But if they have to do it, I hope its in a way that we won’t expect it. And i’m wishing really hard that Superman finally throws a punch on someone. Brainiac is the most logical villain. It’s too early for Doomsday, Zod has already been owned by the Donner films, and it doesn’t seem right that that Supes gets to fight Darkseid right from the getgo.
Green Lantern
Even though I’m not a GL fan (Flash/Wally West all the way). I do think that this movie is going to make money next year. I know for a fact that most of CBM goers have this title on the list of movies they are going to camp out in. Personally, I do think that Nathan Fillion will be a much better choice than Reynolds. Reynolds just doesn’t give off that atmosphere that Hal is suppose to. Maybe it’s because Reynolds has been taking nothing but comedic roles all his life, that’s why I can’t take him seriously.
Thor
This will be epic, no doubt about it. I just hope it’s as good as Iron man 1 and Incredible Hulk.
Ghost Rider 2
I’m going to be the first one to tell you that the first movie was 49 percent bull, and 49 percent crap. I mean, wasn’t Blackheart suppose to be scary? But no, they thought that if they put the guy in a leather coat it automatically says EVIL. I have so many problem with that movie and I put all the blame on Mark Steven Johnson for thinking that every Marvel CBM should be like Spider man. I can go on and on with how much this film pissed me off to my very core but I should probably concentrate on the sequel. I think it’s good that they didn’t automatically reboot this thing, it may be the answer to some CBM but rebooting every franchise after one flop will kill the industry. They should just get writers that can make a plan to make the next movie a lot better. I think that this should be Nicholas Cage’s last hoorah as the Rider. What I want is for him to pass the baton to Danny Ketch and start a new franchise with him. Ghost Rider 2 being his origin story, I think they can make a good sequel after GR2. Oh, Chris Pine for Danny Ketch.
The First Avenger: Captain America
Out of all the Big Four Marvel movies, there’s no doubt that I’ve been waiting for this solo movie the most. I’ve been a fan of Steve Rogers and to me, it’s about time that he got a real solo movie (Aside from the 90’s that blew). When I saw Evans in the pictures in CBM I immediately said to myself that I can’t find anything remotely Johnny Storm. Man, did this guy got cut. I’m not gay but I’ll sleep with him.
Nevertheless, I still have my worries. The facet that it’s going against Thor in the same year along with a couple more Superhero movies. I think that Cap’s movie will get the shortest end of the stick. The fact that Joe Johnston as the director isn’t really making me feel any better. And as a solo film, it should follow Steve’s story. I personally would like to see how he got such a high morals that led to him being the hero that everyone respected in the Marvel Universe. He may not be the strongest or the fastest, but he will be there to inspire you to go another extra mile. He’s the kind of Hero I think about when I watch Aunt May’s scene from Spiderman 2. I jut hope that the Invaders and the Howling Commandos don’t over shadow him in the film.
Anyway, tell me what you think?
