Time to Turn on the Lights at the Old Rumor Mill

Time to put some history, and perspective, in some of the latest CBM news...

When it comes to our "I need to know now" world, stories fly around more than pigeons at central park chasing a kid with a loaf of bread. So, put your bulls**t meter on high and did deeper into some of the latest news to come our way. On a site like this, the rumor mill is always buzzing but lately it seems to have gone to 11.

Taylor Swift has been linked to a project that was allegedly called Supergirl! The Love Story. This rumor originated on Hollyscoop, the site that previously scooped poop when it told us Miley Cyrus was going to be cast as Batgirl. Is the needle on your bulls**t meter twitching yet? It should be.

Last week there had been all sorts of dramatic reporting on Spider-Man 4. We were told an "inside source" at IESB discovered the movie had come to a halting stop because of arguments between Sam Raimi and Sony over which villain(s) to use. The site had to run an update that the production was on normal holiday break over Christmas which is typical of many movies.

As for the latest gossip, the website Pajiba claims that Warner Brothers and DC Comics are developing a big-screen version Hawkman as a tentpole franchise.

It's been pointed out that Pajiba was the site that falsely claimed Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire was developing and planning to star in Prisoners of Trebek, based on the book Prisoner of Trebekistan: A Decade in Jeopardy, which tells the true story of stand-up comedian Bob Harris. The only sure thing is Hawkman coming to Smallville and in researching this article, CBM looks to have taken this article down from our site.

Lastly, in Green Lantern news, we have been told that Carol Ferris has been whittled down to five leading ladies for the role by Latino Review. The actresses named are: Eva Green, Keri Russell, Diane Kruger, Jennifer Garner and Gossip Girl's Blake Lively. This is from the same site that posted Tobey Maguire was in talks for the lead role in "The Hobbit". Tobey himself quickly dismissed this. These actresses are not on any type of confirmed list.

Does this mean we stop posting articles and commenting on them? Hell no! We just need to always take a breath and check the source. Most of the time we have debunked these stories ourselves.

I skipped reading most of those posts. The smell of BS was just too strong.

@Georgia: Having trouble forming sentences there? Ever heard of SuperMike?

Great article, dogs!!! You are right but i still wished i didn't need to get a bullshit meter on this site. If i wanted to read The Sun, i'd subscribe to it. The main page right now has way too much news that isn't confirmed and quite frankly sounds rediculous.

Great article DogsOfWar! :)

I have to agree that there is a lot of (sometimes ovbvious) BS articles making the main page whereas in the past, ma and many other CBM users have posted actual news stories which have just been dumped under "Scoops" for some reason!

Woah, saying Jane's was the worse is kinda pushing it. It was good, yes, but his was Hollywood's rendition while Ray's was just... well, more cult-classic like. I bet in 10 years people are going to appreciate War-Zone a little more.

I don't know if ten years is going to help warzone, any more than ten years has helped batman and robin.

Not true. Batman and Robin was an abortion, Warzone wasn't.
