We love superhero movies for many reasons, but at the very top of the long list of reasons has to be the larger than life battle scenes. I present to you my top five superhero battle scenes of all time. Or at least until "The Man of Steel" comes out as I have a very good feeling it will be taking over a few of these spots.

5. Blade-Blade vs an entire room full of vampires.

The entire scene is almost too much. But that's what makes it awesome! The way Blade just stands there after the blood bath. The way Blade doesn't have a single drop of blood on him while everyone else in the room is covered. It creates an amazing sense of foreboding. While the music perfectly compliments the action on screen. I remember being in theaters the day this film came out, and hearing the cheers from the audience when Blade punched the female vampire in the gut and blew her head off in one quick fluid move.

4. Spider-Man 2.1-Spider-Man vs Doc Ock in a bank and on the side of a building.

Anyone who hasn't seen the extended cut for this battle scene needs to go watch it in the youtube link now! This fight is pure fun. Web to the face and punch to the jaw. Doc Ock throws Spidey out a window, but Spidey takes the Doc with him! Fighting off Doc Ock all the while trying to save Aunt May from falling to her death. It's that kind of dynamic that defines Spidey and it was done here perfectly.

3. Superman 2-Superman vs not one, not two, but THREE other beings almost as strong as he is.

33 years old and this is still one of the best superhero battles ever. This fight scene is what makes me so sure "The Man of Steel" is going to take up some more spots on this list once it's out. The punch Superman gives to Non that sends him through the street and through a building still gets me to jump out of my seat and cheer for Superman.

2. Spider-Man 2.1-Clock/Train Battle

Again anyone who hasn't seen the extended cut for this film needs to go watch this scene in the youtube link now! The way Spidey moves, the way Doc Ock grabs and throws, the way the battle just keeps flowing makes this ALMOST the best superhero battle ever! The part when he grabs the poll and spins around it and launches himself back outside the train is still one of my favorite scenes in any movie ever.

1. The Avengers-End Battle

Anyone who didn't see this coming as the number one biggest and best superhero battle is obviously on this website by accident. Anyone who is actually crazy enough to argue with me about what the best superhero battle is needs to hear one thing to be proven wrong for all time: the HULK punches a giant alien in the face.

Nuff said.

So there you have it. The best superhero battles of all time. At least until "The Man of Steel" and "The Avengers 2" come out. But then again, there's always the off chance that Marc Webb will learn something from Raimi and give us a great action scene along with the great drama for TASM 2. Not holding my breath. You guys seen the pictures from the filming so far? Steve Electro Urkel? Harry the Fairy Osborn? At least Spidey's costume looks good. But I digress.
