Earlier reports that Paramount would be AWOL from Comic-Con aren't completely true.

Initial reports said that on top of the actors strike, major geek movie maker Paramount Pictures would NOT be attending. "The timing was off this year," said one Paramount spokesman.

In 2007's Comic-Con, Paramount was the big show with its promotion of Iron Man. What a cancellation means for this year's offerings is that there would be no coverage for coming movies G.I. Joe, J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, Michael Bay's Transformers 2, Tropic Thunder, and M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender. But then...

UPDATE: CBM follow-up with Paramount yielded this additional information...

Paramount Spokesman, "We are not pulling out, we are just not having the ginormous panel that we had last year. You can definitely expect some Tropic Thunder presence, as well as a few other things we have up our sleeves."

Whew. Crisis averted. Does it mean that all the movies listed will have a presence there? Probably not, but it is a far cry from the original story.
