It seems inevitable to me, that with the way this site coordinates, were so deeply embedded into our role as nerds, geeks, or fan boys, that with the upcoming Marvel slate of movies, where gonna adore them no matter what the critics throw at them.

I realized this, when I first joined this site a good year ago. I found a large majority of people in favor of The Incredible Hulk. I thought "Wow, I'm not the only one who thought the critics got it wrong, and needed to get away from this magic". Marvel, it seems, although there intent on pleasing the whole audience, at the end of the day, they're doing it for us.

As for Iron Man 2, I predicted the first people to criticize and bombard the movie would be Empire Magazine (For you yanks, its a movie review magazine, which I've found over the years to harshly give films a bad rating). They've already dismissed Fav's work, which I feel can't be done until we see the rest of these superhero flicks.

The build up is very fun and exciting. I think the question we have to ask ourselves is, after so much build up and anticipation, can Avengers live up to expectations. I know that I myself have these unfairly high expectations that it will be Dark Knight level or better and that it will do huge numbers at the box office. To a degree, I want perfection, even though I know it's impossible. I think we have to just sit back and enjoy what comes. If it's what we imagined, then awesome. If it's slighly worse, then we still should appreciate it for what it is.

As one of the older "fan boys" around I couldn't agree more.

In fact I'm also interested in any of the mooted lower budget movies (based on other Marvel icons such as Dr Strange) that might come along.

If you haven’t already done so check out my Marvel fan fiction. Just scroll down below my author profile and you will see over 40 fan fiction stories here:

i think it'll be tough for Marvel to pull this off. they just need to stick to their guns, and continue sticking to the source material.

but i don't think we'll like them no matter what. a bad movie is a bad movie, no matter what critics think of them. no, we shouldn't care what critics say about them, but again, if Marvel messes, then no, we won't like them.

but i don't see that happening, they've done so good, and it looks like they have their heads on straight. the two "iffy" ones are next though, Thor and Cap. they can make or break everything that they've been building to. here's hoping they get it right!
