I'm coming up with a list of categories on how to review a ComicBookMovie, and to be able to decide on the end whether I would consider that movie a GREAT CBM.

Here are my two thoughts on the matter.

-A GOOD COMICBOOKMOVIE MUST BE A GOOD MOVIE
It should be enjoyable to both the diehard fans and the regular Joes.

-A GOOD MOVIE DOES NOT ALWAYS TRANSLATE INTO A GOOD COMICBOOKMOVIE
A good ComicBookMovie must ensure that its spiritual core derives itself from the source material. The movie must not take only the title of the comic book and drastically change what fans hold dear about the series. Don’t get me wrong the movie could be good with all those overhaul but "a good movie" doesn’t always make a good ComicBookMovie. There are acceptable changes but be sure that the characters are still who they are in their core.

So with some research (this list is not yet final it still has some room for improvement,) I've come down with these 10 categories on how to decide if the movie is a GREAT ComicBookMovie.

1. Story - it must be engaging and entertaining

2. Director - Innovative(makes you think for a moment how he got that shot), creates an immersive experience

3. Actors - A-List "Star-Actors"

4. Character - Well developed Characters

5. Dialogue - Memorable and affecting

6. Visual - Awesome

7. Sound - Enhances the total experience

8. Effect on viewer - Movies stay with you long after the credits, encourages positive thoughts and emotional reaction.

The eight categories above are applicable to all movies, for us who is interested in finding out what a GREAT CBM is here's the other 2 categories.

9. Faithfulness to the core of the source material - The characters looks and acts like their comicbook counterpart [and it totally works]. Their backstory is the same or updated to match the times if necessary.

10. Comic communities reaction - Mostly Positive

So those are my categories in figuring out what makes a GREAT CBM.

-ACCESS out. Godspeed and MABUHAY!

All great criteria, but I kind of disagree aith the "Actors" part of it. I don't think it's necessary for the actors to be "A-List" actors. There are a lot of unknowns out there that can blow the current A-Lister's out of the water as far as skills go. I think as long as they are GREAT actors, that's what is important. However, I do think you need a certain amount of star power to make the film a draw.

And boobs...

Magic8: I agree with you and flames809 you dont need to be an a list actor to put in a good performance. A superhero movie could be just the role to bring that person from B to A- list status. I like Hugh Jackman also, but not really as Wolverine I mean come on he's taller than the whole cast of the X-men.
