Which Film Studio Will Earn The Most In 2013?

Based on their summer blockbuster and franchise film slates for 2013, which film studio do you think will earn the most worldwide? Will it be Buena Vista? Warner Bros.? Or perhaps Sony? Hint, having the #1 movie doesn't guarantee winning the collective box office.

Buena Vista (Marvel/Disney) had the #1 film in 2012 with Marvel's The Avengers. Around these parts that's a well known fact. But did you know that they weren't the top grossing studio of 2012? That honor went to Warner Bros. who had a total worldwide box office gross of $3.965B off of 16 films. Second, was Sony/Columbia with $3.872B off of 13 films with Buena Vista rounding out the top three with $3.534B on 13 films. Currently, WB is slated to release 18 films this year while Sony will have 12 and BV will distribute 10. Below, I've highlighted what are thought to be the biggest earners (or potential earners) for the main 3 studios. Once you make your way through that, cast your vote in the poll at the bottom and then take your opinion to the comment section and let us know why you made your selection. I've also included some other notable film distributors but it usually comes down to the main three above.

Dude, cheese is so good, but every time I eat it "Can't just have one!" So I find myself 3 hours later after eating 20 Footlong Subs, mumbling to a cardboard cut-out of Jared, questioning my immortality...

Oh, I'm sorry, is this a real question? Hobbit, MoS and Pacific Rim. Yeah.... No competition....

Disney will come close... But WB is gona be first like they were 1st or 2nd position holders since the beginning of this Millennium!

But What's up with SONY this year... Last year Spidey & BOND got them where they reached!
This year there most successful film will probably be SMURFS 2 as AFTER EARTH or ELYSIUM are there biggest film & they probably won't do any higher than 100 million in US!!

Universal got a great list, as well as DISNEY & PARAMOUNT!

& don't forget HANGOVER 3 is WB as well & so is Great Gatsby!
& I know lot of people aren't into that film but its certainly gona make more money than BULLET & JACK -the Giants!!!

Hobbit 2 is gona rule & so is (Hopefully) MAN OF STEEL & PACIFIC RIM!

Abary

That is tough.

Warner Bros. has many movies that will give them lots. MOS, The Hobbit, 300, Pacific Rim...

Disney has The MCU...

Paramount and Universal have great films but they won't make enough. Sony and Fox don't stand a chance. It's between Disney and Warner Bros. If I had to take a guess, I'd say WB because Disney just has the MCU that will make them money (Which will still dominate). The Lone Ranger will only make money because of Johnny Depp.

WB most likely be on top despite having terrible movies from the beginning of the year until 42. my guess is the Hange-over 3, Man of Steel and the Hobbit will help to keep Warners on top.
Kyos
Kyos - 5/4/2013, 1:58 PM
Warner Brothers has most of my "Most wanted" movies - Man of Steel, Pacific Rim, Gravity, Hobbit. MoS and Hobbit should make a lot of money.

Not sure how big IM3 will be at the BO in the end, and I'm really curious about how well Lone Ranger will perform.

Guess WB will be number 1 before Buena Vista.

marvel72 - 5/4/2013, 2:00 PM

So come 2015 or whenever we get get the next star Wars film, will Disney finally be on top?
rocky
rocky - 5/4/2013, 2:10 PM
Warner Brothers definitely, they just have more films.

But who's going to make the most profit? That race may be a little closer but I'd still lean WB despite the Jack film
Durf
Durf - 5/4/2013, 2:14 PM
I think it will be close between WB and Disney. WB has more films, but 2 of their "big releases" have already flopped hard. Disney already has 2 movies that are huge(Iron Man 3's numbers already are huge and Oz was a huge hit), but only has 10 movies this year. Both studios I think are going to have huge blockbusters and make a ton of money. It should be close, but I will go with WB first and Disney a close second

boxofficemojo has WB ahead of Disney counting the box office of 2013 til May 2 and including films released last year but only counting the money for this year

302.9 Disney
340.6 WB

But for films released this year til May2 Disney is ahead in world wide box office even though Disney has 1 film and WB has 8
