Marvel movies are always very popular with general audiences, and usually most critics too -- but they very rarely get any awards recognition outside of special effects categories. This morning the Writers Guild of America announced its nominees, and Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy (written by James Gunn and Nicole Perlman) has been nominated for best Adapted Screenplay. The rest of the nominees are not so out of left field, and include the likes of Nightcrawler, Gone Girl and Boyhood (full list below). Not bad for a bunch of intergalactic a-holes! This is certainly a very pleasant surprise, so let us know what you think in the usual place.

They dont know what they were doing with that nom. The movie is cool but gets an adapted screenplay nom when you have the likes of Cap 2 and X-Men: DOFP are far more superior screenplays over GOTG.

Guardians has many strengths, the plot and narrative structure wasn't one of them. Pretty standard stuff, its the characterizations that won people over. Good for them regardless!

If anything Cap 2 should have been nominated over this. The screenplay for this film was generic as hell, and I liked the film

They should make a special super hero movie award since they never win an award for anything else .

Theres a lot more deserving and quality films that deserve that spot way before Guardians should be discussed

As much as I like GOTG, I'm rooting for the other nominations.

Whiplash, Nightcrawler and Boyhood were incredible.
