X-Men First Class is at it again! The last awards/nomination news for it was that it's now in the Academy's 10 choices for the eventual 5 contenders for the Best Visual Effects award. Now, the movie bags another nomination & this time it's for the costumes!

Sammy Sheldon, who did a splendid job in costume design for the movie is nominated for a Costume Designers Guild Award in the Excellence in Fantasy Film category.

I'm sure we can all agree that we absolutely loved the fresh new direction Sammy took (for an X-Men movie) by bringing forth the good memories we all have of the classic X-Men costumes! He managed to simultaneously put his own spin on them, ensuring that they don't end up looking like tacky yellow-black-&-blue spandex costumes but in fact, costumes that even some cosplayers took to wearing for a few Comic Cons!

Let's hope the best for Sammy & X-Men First Class! To read more & download the HQ image above, click the link at the end of this article.

Really? I didn't think anything stood out about them. They were just Yellow and Black jumpsuits. Except for Magneto's Helmet that was cool. I would think more like thor or Green lantern (only cuz it's the 1st CGI Suit I ever seen or never wanna see again).

If you watch the extras on the Blu-Ray you would know that alot of time and investigation went into these amazing costumes. There was a reason for eveything that they did. Everyone's costumes had subtle differences that were specifically designed for each character, and although they contemporary, all the materials were around during the time period that the movie was set it.

Another interesting bit - I don't know if it was mentioned in the movie or the extras, but in order to fly in the SR-71 Blackbird at Mach-3, they had to wear the suits.
