A QUIET PLACE Director John Krasinski Planning Sci-Fi Thriller LIFE ON MARS As Follow-Up Movie

Following the success of A Quiet Place, there's plenty of intrigue surrounding what's next for director John Krasinski, who also starred in the film alongside his wife Emily Blunt. Turns out, he may have already found his follow-up film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Krasinski's next film will be Life on Mars, an adaptation of the short story We Have Always Lived on Mars by Cecil Castelluci. Krasinski is planning the film alongside A Quiet Place producers Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller. Paramount, which distributed A Quiet Place, is in negotiations to pick up the project.

Although there is no writer on board just yet, We Have Always Lived on Mars "centers on a woman who is among a handful of descendants of a Martian colony long-abandoned by Earth following a cataclysm. The woman one day finds she can breathe the air on Mars, upending her world and that of her fellow colonists."

Krasinski, who found the story and reportedly brought it to his Platinum Dunes cohorts, isn't expected to star in the film. He will, however, be a producer on the project alongside Allyson Seeger, an executive at his Sunday Night Productions banner.

News of Life on Mars follows on the heels of a recent interview with Platinum Dunes founders Andrew Form and Brad Fuller in which the two claimed they would no longer remake horror films, but instead focus on original genre films, like A Quiet Place

I just got back from seeing this, and have some thoughts on this film. I love horror films, and although it felt very original and looked great, A Quiet Place really wasn't my cup of tea. Don't get me wrong, it was shot really well and the actors were great, and sold me on the premise of the film.

I really liked the first 2/3 of the film. The rest was simply 'meh'.

It was a good MoviePass film and worth the $9 to see it in theaters, which to me boosted film a bit.

Does this have any connection to the UK series and the US remake, or are the titles just the same

@dracula - They really need to pick a different name. It's seriously bothering me that they want to call it Life on Mars when there was already a brilliant UK series by that name.

Sounds like a neat premise. Might track down the book or at least the audio version.

Off-Topic: I saw a trailer for a new movie tonight I hadn't heard anything about yet. Thought I'd share it. It looks... interesting. Rated R

Could be cool. Mars stories never really interested me outside of the Barsoom series.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - It is sad how it looks like there won't be any more Princess of Mars movies any time soon. Had Disney stuck with the original title and advertised it more there would have been a great chance the film would have bern a success and a sequel would already be out.

There is so much potential with that world and it is sad to see how little people know about it.

The world of Martian Manhunter was influenced by those stories and I just wish someone would try again.

Hopefully in the future Netflix or Amazon will take a chance with doing that universe, because I don't think a movie will be happening any time soon.
