Our best look yet at the "Feral Predator" from 20th Century Studios' upcoming Prey recently came our way via a pair of new imagesand thanks to another batch of promo stills courtesy of SFX Magazine (via AvP Galaxy), we have some more shots of the redesigned alien hunter as he faces-off with the Comanche warrior who will oppose him in the movie, Naru (Legion actress Amber Midthunder).

Prey is set a long time before the events of the original Predator, but while chatting to the mag, 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg pointed out that he doesn't necessarily view his film as a prequel at all.

“I want to specifically say this, because I think there’s been some confusion how people have understood: in my mind, this is not a prequel movie, this isn’t, ‘Let’s tell the origin of the Predator.’ This is really something that’s set prior to the original Predator movie. And the Predator creature in this one, this is its first time travelling to Earth.”

Check out the new stills by clicking the link below.

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, “Prey” is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

Prey is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, written by Patrick Aison (Jack Ryan, Treadstone), and produced by John Davis (Jungle Cruise, The Predator) and Jhane Myers (Monsters of God), with Lawrence Gordon (Watchmen), Marty Ewing (It: Chapter Two), James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas and Marc Toberoff (Fantasy Island) serving as executive producers.

Prey is set to premiere on the Hulu streaming service on August 5. Keep an eye out for a new trailer very soon!

I'm super excited for this flick. My expectations are tempered due to the last few predator movies. But this one looks fresh/familiar enough that I've got much more confidence in it being a solid movie. The cinematography alone elevates it above the last few outings.

@RedFury - I think the best thing they could have done was make this a prequel/period piece. A trilogy over different periods would be fascinating. I'd also be open to one taking place in the time of the colonial marines as well, but that's a different comic/story.

@The1st - I couldn't agree more! Seeing predator's battling with different warriors in different time periods would honestly be the best thing they could do with this franchise. I would lose my shit If it was a colonial marine vs a pred. Especially if you brought James Cameron back in the fold somehow. Nerdgasms all over the place lol.

Samurai vs.
Templar vs.
Pirate vs.
The epic possibilities are endless. Hell even go Deadliest Warrior style and pit a predator against a famous historical warrior. William Wallace vs. the predator! Ridiculous, yes. Awesome? Totally.

@The1st - always wanted them to go this route. Or other time periods … Civil War, Vietnam, Afghanistan. People are forgetting the Predator only comes to earth during the hottest temperatures and during conflict. Stealth their kills during wars and battles and combat.

@TheVengeance - they could seriously make an amazing series out of these ideas. Do three episodes of a time period each, with three different time lines a season.

@dragon316 @bs77 - What I liked is at the end of 2 the predator gives Glover's character a 18th century gun so you know it's been a thing to hunt for a long time. I'd like to know what that story was. To your point bs, the thing the films always emphasize is human ingenuity or seemingly impossible odds. They don't really say that predator tech has evolved much over time either, so I'm curious to see what toys are on display in the new film. Also, I think a modern female soldier would do just fine...

@ATrueHero1987 - Predator 2 is the second best film in the series. Added most to the lore after the original, great actor and protagonist, awesome setting. Violent and funny cuss filled dialogue. They don’t make movies like that anymore. Gary Busey? It’s actually an original sequel. Predators was decent but Adrien Brody and all the shameless fan service and retread of the original brings it down pegs.

I just can't buy into a little girl being even remotely successful against an advanced alien that can traverse the cosmos. If, back in the day, you had to pick between a male Comanche warrior and a female Comanche warrior in a fight, no-one would ever pick the female to win. There was no woke, inclusive, feminism nonsense back then. Warriors devoted their lives to it. The women while sometimes engaging in combat alongside the men mostly tended to their traditional gender roles. Have you seen the military standards we have for women today? I wouldn't pick a modern female soldier either. At least the Comanche woman had some survival skills.

@bs77 - there are women who can do things better to men and in men do something’s better women spends situation if trained properly women can fight as well sometimes better than men , documentary’s and true story movies where women fight harder gi Jane is one of them Megan levy marine with bomb sniffing dog
RedFury
RedFury - 7/14/2022, 9:17 AM
@bs77 - I find it pretty hilarious that you can be on board with an alien from space coming to earth hunting humans. But can't be on board with a female warrior. Even though the plot specifically states that she's a fierce warrior who's trained with the best warriors of her tribe.
Equipmunk
Equipmunk - 7/14/2022, 9:26 AM
@dragon316 - No. There are very, very rare and few exceptions of females who would be able to overcome the natural size and strength advantages that men naturally have. I have been a martial artist for 36 years, including jiu jitsu, and have seen multiple instances of high ranking females get seriously hurt rolling/sparring with beginner males because the male couldn’t control themselves.
RedFury
RedFury - 7/14/2022, 9:32 AM
@Equipmunk - but you just admitted that it's possible. Sure it might be rare, but not impossible. So let's not pretend like women are incapable of being strong and fierce.
Equipmunk
Equipmunk - 7/14/2022, 9:40 AM
@RedFury - I never said it wasn’t impossible or that women are incapable of being “strong and fierce” just that it’s super rare for even highly trained females to overcome the basic biological differences between male and females. That’s just the basic truth that I’ve witnessed multiple times in my life.
TheSuperMex
TheSuperMex - 7/14/2022, 9:45 AM
@bs77 - yeah who would have thought an untrained and scared women like Sarah Conner could defeat highly advanced killing robot from the future. [frick]ing woke feminist garbage.
TheSuperMex
TheSuperMex - 7/14/2022, 9:48 AM
@Equipmunk - these are movies. They are fake. The shit you see I’m the MCU isn’t realistic but a women fighting and beating an alien crosses the line? Lol go watch documentaries if you want realistic.
Equipmunk
Equipmunk - 7/14/2022, 10:05 AM
@TheSuperMex - No way… movies aren’t real???!! No shit Sherlock. Contrary to your straw man argument, most people, including myself, can suspend their disbelief for entertainment. It just cracks me up when people think that being “trained properly” can overcome giant strength and speed advantages in the real world.
