American Reunion Directors Thinking About Back To The Future Sequel

Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg are tackling an American Pie sequel/remake (requel?) and someone recently asked the duo which Universal franchise they'd love to do next. Their answer, may require us to go back...to the future!

Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg are doing press now for American Reuinion, a sequel/remake to the original American Pie movie(s) and during a press junket they revealed that they've signed a two-year contract with Universal. When asked which Universal property they'd love to tackle next, which they answered with none other than Back To The Future.

"We want Back to the Future, just come out and say it", Scholssberg admitted. "That's our favourite trilogy. We're always having this conversation."

On the timing of their dream BTTF remake...

"I wouldn't want to do it now because people would be like, 'Oh, there's no way it will be as good as the original.' But 30 years from now when Spielberg's, like, 90 and those guys are kind of on their way out, and those movies just look really old because we're watching movies that are old, literally in two dimensions or something, it would be great to have all these classics that you're able to remake."

On the difference between a remake and a sequel...

"I personally would far rather a sequel, unless it's something that is so old that the general movie going public hasn't really seen the movie, and then you could consider it a reboot."

What do you guys think of a sequel to the original trilogy? Blasphemy? Great Idea? I for one think that you could easily write a story involving Doc Browns kids from the end of Part III meeting Marty's kids. Personal conjecture.

BLASPHEMY!!! That's my favourite trilogy by far. I will be [frick]ing mortified if they remade that. Some movies you just don't touch

FAWK YEA!! i loved these movies. i hope they do do a sequel and as soon as possible. and a good one at that. no a great one. so far movies based on my favorite childhood memories (TMNT and Ghostbusters) have been nothing but horrible news so far. Bill Murray not being in Ghostbusters 3 and Bay onboard for the TMNT reboot. i'm crossing my fingers that these jackasses don't ruin my childhood memories by doing a shitty BTTF sequel.

I saw this on IGN, and I was SMH. I even commented on the article:

"I hope they never remake or reboot BTTF. The trilogy is a classic. That's just something you don't mess with.

If Universal wanted to do a new BTTF movie... make it a sequel and bring back the original cast."

I know Michael J. Fox couldn't come back due to his condition. If a sequel gets the green light(hopefully never), I would still like him to be involved in some capacity.

Any ideas on who could be cast in a remake...

I think Jim Parsons - Sheldon would make a great Doc Brown in a Remake...

If there ever was to be another BTTF, it should be about Marty and Doc's kids, that would be pretty cool. Still, I'd rather they just left it...

meh no sequel please

and even though Im completely against remakes, I would love to see a remake in 2045, then the past year of the remake could be the future year of the original! and BTTF 3 remake could be set at the end of World War 2!
