AVATAR 2 Trailer Expected To Debut In Front Of DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS

We finally have an ETA on the first trailer for James Cameron's Avatar sequel, with a teaser expected to debut in front of Marvel's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in theatres.

After years (the sequels were first announced back in 2017) of development, we're finally set to return to Pandora for the first follow-up to James Cameron's Avatar this December, and we may now have an update on the long-awaited trailer.

The Ankler (via SFFGazette.com) is reporting that a preview "of some sort" for Avatar 2 is set to screen in front of Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on May 6.

Nothing is official and this is likely subject to change, but this date would make sense. Disney is reportedly hoping to replicate the success of Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: No Way Home with Sam Raimi's sequel, and offering audiences a first glimpse of some footage from Cameron's sci-fi epic would ensure maximum ticket sales.

Specific plot details are still under wraps, but 20th Century Studios boss Steve Asbell recently gave fans an idea of what to expect from this "family saga."

"It’s going to blow people away," he told THR"You’re not ready for what [James Cameron] is doing. I can tell you that there is no better marketing apparatus in the business than the one at Disney. They will do an incredible job reigniting that passion for the original film. This is not just a sequel, it’s a saga. And it’s a family saga. It will be compelling on its own, but it will also be extremely compelling to return to those characters and to see how they’ve evolved."

Avatar 2 is set to hit theatres on December 16, 2022. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña will return as Jake Sully and Neytiri, alongside Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, and Edie Falco.

@marvel72 - Gotta say I'm not an Avatar fan, it's a boring, pretentious film with zero rewatch value IMO.

But the 3D was the most impressive I've seen, even comparing to newer ones.

Cameron is a visionary, technically speaking.

@marvel72 - 3D is mostly a gimmick, but I will say watching it in IMAX 3d was the only time I found 3D actually adding to the experience. its wasn't just stuff flying out at you.

The story on the otherhand is not so special. It basically copies Pocahontas, Fergully, Dances with Wolves etc. So it's un original..

At least now with it's infinite amount of sequels it can help distinguish itself away from those (hopefully)

I rate it.

@marvel72 - It was a boring ripoff of FernGully with striking CGI visuals. It was super cutting edge FX at the time and that's why it was successful. I hope they have a real story this time because the novelty of 3D has worn off. The Avatar ride at Disney is amazing. I'd rather do that.

@dragon316 - Absolutely ridiculous. This movie CRUSHED all other 3D movies and single-handedly kickstarted the 3D phenomenon in the modern era. Me and the boys can’t wait to see this movie in the theater!

All of a sudden I'm seeing this as 'Spider's' story. The first was just a set up for this human kid to adapt on Pandora?

@TheDpool - It was not a set up. A set up has to be planned.

Do y'all remember that first look photo from way back of the new young cast members? Literally the very first official image they released of the movie. Oh it made me not want this movie.

The 3d was revolutionary in the first, let's see what they pull off this time. I'm just hoping this causes a surge in 3d tv's once again!

The first was incredibly mediocre, especially coming from Cameron.

I have little faith this will be good, the setting, cast just isn't it.

Smart for Disney for putting it on what will probably be the biggest movie of the yr. Good luck. It'll take a lot to get me in the theater.

I think it's going to be good. Cameron always manages to outdo himself (sans True Lies, but still good, especially for Jamie Lee Curtis).

The first one came out at the right time for it's visual effects and proper use of 3D, but the story copied so many cliche'd tropes.

With the 4 sequels though i think it can seperate itself from those. I just think it needs to have a much wider appeal now as the competiton has gotten alot stronger with VFX. The story needs to deliver this time if they expect to beat the billions it made last time.

@AmazingFILMporg - I hope so. Though he could fall victim to his own success 4 times over with the amount of sequels in production.

Aliens wasn't his to begin with, and though he wasn't attached as director, he did manage to get the rights back to Terminator and Dark fate still flopped with him being heavily involved as producer. It was still the best Terminator movie since Judgement day though.

I will definitly be watching this in the BFI Imax like the last one!
