Could Jeremy Renner Be The Next Snake Plissken?

Multiple sources, among them Movieweb and Production Weekly, are reporting that the producers behind the remake of Escape From New York want Jeremy Renner to star as Snake Plissken, the role originated by Kurt Russell.

At this point it isn't clear whether or not Renner will accept the offer. Escape From New York is slated to start filming in early 2011 and it's conceivable that Renner could start shooting before The Avengers as that film has been delayed due to budget concerns.

Prior to this, Timothy Olyphant was rumored to be up for the role of Snake. The film, scheduled for release in 2012, will be directed by Breck Eisner.
