Don Cheadle & Frida Pinto Joining Planet Of The Apes Prequel?

Don Cheadle & Frida Pinto Joining Planet Of The Apes Prequel?

War Machine himself, as well as the scrumptious Ms Pinto may be joining James Franco in the Apes origin story...

Bloody Disgusting is reporting that offers have been made to both Frida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) and Don Cheadle (Iron Man 2) for Twentieth Century Fox's "Ceasar" , seemingly the earlier title for what is now Planet Of The Apes: Rise Of The Apes(tentative title). Catchy eh? James Franco will play the lead in the Rupert Wyatt directed prequel described as an origin story. No word as yet on who Chaedle and Pinto would play.

It's set in present day San Francisco and deals with the aftermath of man's experiments with genetic engineering that lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy. Franco will play a driven scientist who becomes a crucial figure in the war between humans and apes.

I'm not sure I like the change in direction there, but then again after Tim Burton's travesty I don't blame them for going in a different direction. I still don't see what would have been wrong with continuing on from where the original films left off with an updated sequel, although I guess they did kind of take thing full circle. All we know aside from this is that The Apes will be created using CGI by WETA Digital, instead of the costumed/made up actors of the previous installments. Apparently they will employ “.. the groundbreaking technologies developed for AVATAR” and “will render, for the first time ever in the film series, photo-realistic apes rather than costumed actors.

Principal photography is set to begin on July 5th 2010, and the film has an announced release date of June 24th 2011.

With a cast that's shaping up to be pretty damned good, I'm definitely a lot more interested in this than when it was first announced! Nice find ROR! :)

I honestly do feel that this is probably the best approach to be taken for a new Apes film, and provides a lot more potential by rebooting from what was essentially the fourth film rather than the original. It's actually a logical place for an "origin" story, and it will be interesting to see what direction they'll ultimately go in.

Racist..? So I'm racist because the guy looks like a monkey? I'm Black myself, and I was voicing my opinion. What difference is this from when some of you guys say some actor looks horrible or some actress is ugly? Calm yourselves. Daniel Craig looks like an ape too, is saying that offensive..? If so then once again, we all have our opinions.

@Rakita
My bigotry and ignorance? I never said anything bigoted or ignorant, anyone with eyes can see he clearly resembles an ape. It isn't a Black thing at all. I would understand if I WAS in fact racist and called him something wrong like the n-word, but it's naive of you to assume such things when you know nothing at all.

@Anil
I'm not going to take back what I said because I voiced my opinion on the guy's looks. It was in no way racist, and it isn't "cool" of you to assume things without even asking what I meant. ONCE AGAIN, I'm a Black man myself.

@Anil Rickly
I apologize for offending you and thank you for seeing this from my perspective, Anil. Look, somebody already deleted it lol.

I don't use the word African because I wasn't born in Africa. I use Black because that's what Black people have been using to describe ourselves for a looooong time. Trust me, nothing is wrong with the word Black lol.

@RaKita
PLEASE leave, this isn't the place for your Diva attitude. There are many more who would easily fill your spot if you left so if I were you I wouldn't be making any threats.

Thx to whomever deleted DeadDrools earlier post.

@DeadDrool...Perhaps I was a bit hasty in labeling you as a bigot and ignorant, but the comment was offensive. Diva attitude ?? Hardly, I just have a difficult time with narrow-minded people. You state that you're a black man. Now, if a known WHITE man had made the same statement, he'd be labeled a racist in a second. Try seeing it from this side too.

As for me leaving this site, HELL NO. This is the best CBM site on the net.

You're so right about the White thing, if that happened it would get ugly in here FAST. Lmao

Yeah, this is the best CBM site. I apologize for calling you a Diva and offending you with my comment as well.

Frida already looks like she's frickin' hot! And I don't mean to be a racist by saying that. LOL, just kidding, guys. Lighten up.

Anything Fox shit out would be exactly that!

What's wrong with Tim Burton's version? It's good. Mark Wahlberg is good. I know it's also made by Fox, but that was before they offended me with that crap of a Wolverine movie.

Though nothing beats the original Schaffner's Apes back in 1968. Charlton Heston and Roddy McDowall, oooh, that's a good film!

Leee@ the only bad things about Burton's
Ape Planet was Mark Wahlberg's performance
and the anticlimactic ending. The guys
acting in the ape make0up were amazing,
I thought Michael CLark Duncan was a
standout!

But yeah, this is gonna suck monkey balls
(pun intended!) I just feel it!

Nothing can touch Heston! Ya bunch o'
damm dirty apes! lol

CGI apes? EPIC FAIL! The apes in the classic film series looked quite "realistic" enough wearing makeup and costumes.

Give me the original classic film series- and even the TV series- over this festering pile of monkey poo.

im excited about the cgi that means it will be the first time they will be APES(like the book)not APE PEOPLE,and i gotta dis agree,the tim burton film,thow story was a little...blah,was kind of ground breaking in ways TIM ROTHS performance was incredible! THE DUDE BECAME AN APE!he didnt just crouch around with his arms slightly bowed as if to start bellowing oohw oowh eeeeh eeeh!!!plus the make up was awsome!!! what more besides CGI could people want? personally i think its a reboot that we could do without anyway but,at least give credit where its do!Like nightmare on elm,IT WASNT HORRIBLE,HE WASNT BAD!KINDA COOL CHANGE!?but like 20 min in your like...oh....another..nightmare..stay awake!!!...there he is!!.....dont go!!!!!YAWN!!!saying too yourself(now i remember why ive seen caddyshack 1000 times and the first freddy like 3!?)
