PACIFIC RIM SYNOPSIS - When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Pacific Rim was directed by Guillermo del Toro, from a script written by Travis Beacham. The cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff, and Brad William Henke. Now available on DVD & Blu-ray!

very very honest trailer...awesome dumb movie but I'll be damned if I'm not first in line to see a sequel.

It was a dumb..dumb movie. Anything awesome was overshadowed by the dumb. The dumb was in every crevice of it, from the casting to the dialog to the ridiculous acting and story. It fed from dumb and grew more powerful on dumb. And the fact that it knew it doesn't let it off the hook. I wanted to see a movie not another toy commercial.

DUMB.

Rewatchability factor isn't that strong with this movie mostly because the human characters were bland, and too much of time was spent on characters no one cared about rather than the mindblowing fight sequences.

Pretty much agree with Loki on this one. Sure, the premise of building robots to fight monsters is ridiculous, but the movie just went with it and actually came up with a pretty cool reason to do it that way.

It was a dumb movie, but it never once pretended to be anything more. I came in knowing exactly what I expected it to be, and it didn't disappoint.

That's where I wholeheartedly agree with the Transformers comparison. Transformers caters to immature, horny teens while pretending to have some deep message of it's own self-importance. Pacific Rim was just a fun, popcorn summer blockbuster. Wasn't the best movie ever, nor the worst. I just enjoyed it for what it was.

I love Honest Trailers unlike Everything Wrong With(that just is simple nitpicking even the greatest movies to death) Honest Trailers just points out stuff that we're all already thinking even about movies that we love.

Also I loved the fact that they didn't bust the sword out right away. LOL it was like every other Japanese Anima. I mean in Voltron you were always like why wouldn't you just form Blazing Sword in the first place!?

The sword was added during the upgrade as well as faster charging plasma cannons. The movie actually had more action in it than the other comic movies that came out which didn't have more than 40 minutes of action like Rim does. howmuchaction.blogspot.com
