Warner Bros. Pictures has released over twenty new stills from Lisa Joy's upcoming sci-fi action thriller Reminiscence, which stars Academy Award-nominee Hugh Jackman (X-Men; Logan) in the lead role as Nick Bannister, a private investigator of the mind who helps clients access lost memories.

While marketing has been somewhat lowkey in comparison to other WB releases this year, the film is set to launch simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max next Friday, August 20.

It's being described as a neo-noir mystery of sorts, with Jackman's Bannister finding his life forever changed when he takes on a new client named Mae (Rebecca Ferguson) and subsequently uncovers a violent conspiracy surrounding her past. This will force him to answer the question: how far would you go to hold on to the ones you love?

Though she previously helmed an episode of HBO's Westworld, the acclaimed series she co-created with her husband Jonathan Nolan, Reminiscence will mark Joy's feature film directorial debut. She also served as the sole screenwriter and is also one of the producers. 2x Primetime Emmy-nominee Paul Cameron (CollateralWestworld) is the cinematographer on the project.

In addition to Jackman and Ferguson, the talented ensemble cast also features Primetime Emmy-winner Thandiwe Newton (WestworldMission: Impossible II), Daniel Wu (Into the Badlands; Tomb Raider), Cliff Curtis (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & ShawDoctor Sleep), Nico Parker (DumboThe Third Day), Angela Sarafyan (WestworldExtremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile), Natalie Martinez (The StandBattle at Big Rock), Marina de Tavira (RomaThis Is Not Berlin), and Mojean Aria (SeeCall of the Void).

Nick Bannister (Jackman), a private investigator of the mind, navigates the darkly alluring world of the past by helping his clients access lost memories. Living on the fringes of the sunken Miami coast, his life is forever changed when he takes on a new client, Mae (Ferguson). A simple matter of lost and found becomes a dangerous obsession. As Bannister fights to find the truth about Mae's disappearance, he uncovers a violent conspiracy, and must ultimately answer the question: how far would you go to hold on to the ones you love?

You'd think after seventeen years Jackman would be a little more wary about getting into government sanctioned science bathtubs.

Looks like a stinker. Poor Hugh just can’t get the right roles these days. It’s a shame because he’s a fine actor.

You can really see how much Lisa Joy has learnt from her husband and brother… For those unaware she’s married to Jonathan Nolan, brother of Christopher. The noire feel really adds to it too. But the film in general looks like a fun combination of a host of films.
