Universal Pictures has announced (via SFFGazette.com) that Jurassic World Dominion is getting an extended edition when it arrives on Digital, 4K Ultra HD, and Blu-ray later this month. This cut of the movie will feature 14 minutes of never-before-seen footage, along with an alternate opening.

While the movie arrived in theaters to middling reviews earlier this summer, it still managed to earn more than $900 million at the worldwide box office - an impressive figure all things considered.

That's not quite on the same level as its predecessors, but the box office is still recovering following the pandemic, in fairness. The expectation now is that the Jurassic franchise will move on to a new era of storytelling, though what that will look like remains to be seen (perhaps we'll finally get that crossover with Universal's Fast & Furious?).

These additional 14 minutes take Jurassic World Dominion's dino-sized runtime to a whopping 2 hours and 40 minutes, while there will be a tonne of additional content in terms of special features when the movie arrives on August 16.

You can check out the full list of those extras below:

The removed opening is 10 minutes, the other 4 minutes will be locusts and wannabe Tim Cook. [frick] this movie

Maybe that extra footage will be the origin of scooter guy. It'll explain how he had prospects of being a world renowned surgeon only to get into a car accident resulting in severe brain damage. This resulted in a huge drop in iq, short term memory loss, and lack of peripheral vision. While this has caused great pain to his family, scooter guy was at least capable of living in peace with his regular scooter runs throughout the town...until being eaten by a t rex.

Nice, perhaps we see Chris pratt lasso and hold with his bare hands another [frick]ing dinosaur, while in the same movie he strangled one. Juice of garbage this movie.

@braunermegda - I mean, he strangled a really small dinosaur. From all the problems with this movie, I don't see why that is one.

@Razorface1 - oh that is just one of the many problems it has. It has so many that we consider a man strangle a dinosaur a small issue 🤣
Razorface1
Razorface1 - 8/10/2022, 5:49 PM
@braunermegda - It's not even an issue. What is wrong with that?

@Razorface1 - absolutely everything with a human being able to strangle a [frick]ing dinosaur, no matter how small it is

@braunermegda - Ok so clearly you have no arguments other than repeating the same thing, I'll leave it at that.

@Razorface1 - dude if you're okay with a human being strangling a dinosaur, that's on you. I don't need to have arguments over a bulshit like that, other than people running at the same speed a velociraptor, a man lassoing a dinosaur and having the strenght to hold it. Just go live your life liking garbages like this, ain't no crime. Peace.

It felt like it was trying to be a Fast & The Furious movie, often. Convoluted silliness. This whole trilogy was utterly ridiculous.

Hated this movie. Highly doubt 14 minutes will help. Especially considering the first 5-10 minutes was released before the film, was said that it would be the opening scene of the movie, and then was removed right before release. So it’s nothing we haven’t already seen. Those first several minutes were good but it’s all downhill and seems kind of cheap to market never before seen footage when a good chunk of has been released.

Why would I want to see more of this movie when I could never see it again?

Probably that imax intro that wasn’t in the regular movie and some other stuff. I wonder if this is getting added to the digital edition that’s already out, would be pretty messed up if it was upgraded considering they are charging $30 for it

I don't know man, I liked it. It had Dinosaurs and cool Dinosaur scenes. That's all I could ask for and it met my expectations in that regard.

Spoiler alert: the ending is basically the same as the first Jurassic World and that's just lazy.
