As Gary Ross' adaptation of the hugely popular novels gears up for it's release early next year we have this new pic of X-Men: First Class actress Jennifer Lawrence wielding her patented bow and arrow as the story's heroine Katniss Everdeen..



Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. Part twisted entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, the Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which "Tributes" must fight with one another until one survivor remains.

Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she's ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.


The movie hits March 23rd and also stars Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Hemsworth, Donald Sutherland, Stanley Tucci and Lenny Kravitz. A spin off comic book/graphic novel is also in the works.

@MovieMann...It is based off a book, set mainly in the woods, where she hunts and kills...does that explain it? And, do you have to refer to her as a "bitch"? That is crude

not that she is drawing the bow back, but the arrow is going down the back of her wrist, the front of the arrow is off of the bow, which is not right, it wont release correctly.

If Hawkeye was pulling back on his bow n arrow yes he would be in his signature pose. Katniss is also known for her bow and arrow so when she pulls back on it she is in her signature pose. Rocket science it is not.

Laugh all you want, Battle Royale was the first purely Japanese movie I ever watched all the way through. Why? Chiaki Kuriyama (Go-Go Yubari) from Kill Bill made me check it out.
I've read the book three times, it's among my favorites in thrillers. I have a love-hate relationship with the movie. The acting is so freakin horrible that it almost becomes a joke, but if you think about how accurate it is to a book that was published only a year beforehand, and how incredibly pitiful the budget they had to work with was... well, it stands out.

Be that as it may, Batoru Rowaiaru is not an original concept. Its violence is extraordinary, and its pretense is definately unique, but pitting prisoners (essentially what they are) against each other in a game of survival is only a metaphor for a ruthless, bloodthirsty, do or die society. It is an ultimatum.

I welcome this.

The synopsis is government control (*yawn*) and the presence of Big Brother (etc., etc.). At least there will be a main character who is easy on the ocular organs.

She gives it all in every performance she has, she's incredible and so young aswell!
