Kevin Smith/Martin Caidin's The Bionic Man Coming to Comics From Dynamite Entertainment

The Six Million Dollar Man, undoubtedly adjusted for inflation, is coming to comics in the form of Dynamite's The Bionic Man, written by Kevin Smith and based on the character Steve Austin created by the late Martin Caidin.

Says Dynamite Entertainment in a press release, "Steve Austin is back and acclaimed film maker Kevin Smith unleashes his high octane vision in this new series from Dynamite. Featuring 28 pages of story/art in an action-packed first issue! Kevin Smith is joined by Phil Hester, artist Jonathan Lau, and cover artist/character designer Alex Ross (the team who brought you The MAIN Green Hornet series), Smith unleashes Bionic Man into the 21st century as only he can."

Although it hasn't been confirmed at this point, the odds are that this story - as was the case with Smith's Green Hornet comic -- will be based on a screenplay that he wrote but which was never produced.

@nuck82 - more like Cable wanna be like Bionic Man. Steve Austin is the ORIGINAL cyborg in the seventies from the book by Martin Caidin that spawned the hit TV show: "The Six Million Dollar Man"

Look it up.

I like the art work for the comic and wouldn't mind reading it. I grew up with the television series and wonder how much of that will be incorporated into it. If at all!

@SinisterUrge - originally conceived by Caidin, Austin is a former US Army helicopter pilot who served in Vietnam before being transferred to the Air Force and then into NASA. As backup Lunar Module Pilot for Apollo 17, he became one of twelve astronauts to walk on the moon when the prime Lunar Module Pilot (LMP) broke an arm before launch.

In the pilot episode of The Six Million Dollar Man, Austin's background is adjusted: he is a civilian test pilot who was the only civilian to walk on the Moon. In the regular series, however, Austin once again became a military man, holding the rank of colonel in the Air Force.

This was my all time favourite TV show growing up as a kid, Lee Majors was the coolest guy ever as far as I was concerned. This comic needs a decent artist, looks utter crap!

@Ichaos

I thought of that too. It'll be cool to see a new version of this franchise. But we all remember when they tried to bring back the "Bionic Woman" in 2007.

@Ceejay - Lee Majors kicked ass! SMDM and The Fall Guy were two of my favorite tv shows as a kid.

Hmm looks interesting. six million dollar man needs to be made into a movie. although the bionic woman remake didn't live up to the original.

What they need to do is bring back a nice remake of the tv series or even a movie.
