Logan's Run Gets a New Screenwriter

With actor Ryan Gosling and director Nicolas Winding Refn coming off of the hit indie film Drive, it looks like their version of Logan's Run is going to go into production - but not before another pass is taken on the film's screenplay by a new writer.

The Hollywood Reporter has stated that screenwriter Andrew Baldwin (The Outsider, Red Asphalt, The West is Dead) is the newest in line, following efforts by Alex Garland and Will Beall.

Says THR of the long-gestating film, "Logan’s Run, set in a utopian, post-apocolyptic society in which people must be put to death when they reach age 30 (21 in the 1967 novel by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson), was a hit in 1976 starring Michael York. The remake has been in development for more than a decade with filmmakers as diverse as Bryan Singer (X-Men), James McTiegue (V for Vendetta) and Carl Erik Rinsch (the upcoming 47 Ronin) all developing different takes on the material."

So the movie "In Time" starring Justin Timberlake is an rip-off? As long as the cast and the director stays the same I'll be fine.

Hopefully, this remake will actually be worth seeing in lieu of some hyped up shallow piece of non-renewable garbage.

It's never a good sign when a movie is on its third screenwriter. The original script is already written. If we HAVE to have a remake of Logan's Run- and I do mean IF- why not just use the original script with some minor tweaking so it would look 'futuristic' from today and tweak the effects some?
