I guess Conan the Barbarian has started a new trend. The Hunger Games is the latest movie to adopt the motion picture trend. Maybe it will fill the void recently left by the Harry Potter Franchise.

Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. Part twisted entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, the Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which "Tributes" must fight with one another until one survivor remains. Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she's ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

The Hunger Games stars Jennifer Lawrence, Stanley Tucci, Liam Hemsworth, Lenny Kravitz and Elizabeth Banks and is directed by Gary Ross. The movie is slated to be released on March 23, 2012.

PG-13. The fan base is such that they have to rate it that.

If they PG-13 it the violence would really have to be toned down. From the bloodbath at the start of the games at the Cornucopia to a girl getting stung to death by thousands of genetically enhanced yellow jackets to a small girl getting a spear in her stomach, gonna be hard.

(No I did not give away spoilers as in who was killed, but read the books to better understand it)

The books pretty hardcore, sure it has some angsty romance at times but the violence isn't exactly for little kids.

Yeah it'll probably be PG-13 (they'll have to tone down the violence though).
And that poster's awesome. :D

@Hellsing - From what I've heard, the last Harry Potter Book was pretty violent, too. Unfortunately, like HP8, a lot of the violence will just get left out of the movie...

Just finished this series it was a decent read and made some good points about reality TV. I hope that massage makes it across in the flicks.
