NEUROMANCER Concept Art Surfaces

NEUROMANCER Concept Art Surfaces

The grandaddy of all cyberpunk, Neuromancer is currently working towards its movie debut and here's a look at some concept art that's apparently leaked a bit early.

Is this Armitage, the role that Liam Neeson has reportedly been offered?

And is this Case, the role that would go to Marl Wahlberg?

The Matrix, Johnny Mnemonic (which could be considered a prequel),Ghost in the Shell, hell, even the internet has arguably taken ques from Willaim Gibson's 1984 novel. However, the film adaption of Neuromancer could be headed for some John Carter-esque trouble if they aren't careful. While the film may be a first, in the 28 years since its debut, many of the concepts and themes in the book have already been adapted in one sci-fi project or another. There's great potential here but there's definitely a potential for audience deja vu if fresh and original ideas are not incorporated by director Vincenzo Natali (Cube). Deals are currently on the table for Liam Neeson to play Armitage and Mark Wahlberg to portray lead protagonist, Case. The concept art above from Amro Attia has leaked but no one has been able to confirm which characters its for. The above images could be Armitage and Case or two different designs for the latter.

SYNOPSIS:Case was the hottest computer cowboy cruising the information superhighway, jacking his consciousness into cyberspace, soaring through tactile lattices of data and logic, rustling encoded secrets for anyone with the money to buy his skills. Then he double-crossed the wrong people, who caught up with him in a big way -- and burned the talent out of his brain, micron by micron. Banished from cyberspace, trapped in the meat of his physical body, Case courted death in the high-tech underworld. Until a shadowy conspiracy offered him a second chance -- and a cure -- for a price.

Stanley Kubrick ended Sci-Fi genre when he made 2001:A SPACE ODYSSEY. I don't understand why these fools keep making Sci-Fi films. Though i dig the concept art.

Please ! not another Total Recall...

EVEN THOUGH IT'S A STORY THAT'S BEEN PLAYED BEFORE..IF YOUR EFFECTS ARE GOOD AND YOU THROW IN SOME TWISTS AND YOU GET THE RIGHT ACTORS IT WILL BE AWESOME..ENOUGH TIME HAS PASSED SINCE JHONNY NEUMONIC....BESIDES, THIS WAS WHERE IT CAME FROM.

Neeson is boss. Would be cool to see him in this but Wahlberg as the lead character im little skeptical.
He is good actor but still i would go after guys like Guy Pearce, Jeremy Renner or maybe Timothy Olyphant.
That first imagine brings Vin Diesel in my mind.
Neeson should probably gain some muscle IF he is that character. He would look totally badass with that tattoo and bald head. :)

Liam Neeson- plays bad ass's
Mark Wahlberg- plays mark wahlberg's
Throw in some sci-fi shit and you get a bad ass Liam Neeson beating the shit out of Mark Wahlberg in space or cyber space. Yea, I'll watch that.

@jacksonvegaiii it's more than good, it's great... IF you engage the material at the level he wrote it... this is NOT pulp sci-fi it's brainy stuff.

i wouldn't compare it your examples, though... brave new world was kinda sci-fi BUT it was more concerned with the philosophy of genetic superiority and eugenics... 1984 was kinda sci-fi BUT it was more concerned with political trends.

neuromancer is REAL sci-fi because there's more actual science in there, but it's not dry or techy either... it's more like ubik or fahrenheit 451. and like those, the themes revolve around the interplay between the individual, the government, and modern society's demand that all new technology be not only accepted but incorporated into every person's lifestyle.

sorry if that was tmi i'm a lit teacher i can go on a bit.

Like Akira, the expectations on what would make a perfect, great movie from the source material, are just too high. It will never happen. Or at least happen the way it should.

@amxt aint it the truth... just like john carter, green lantern, starship troopers, i robot, and so on. BUT there was a great naked lunch... and sometimes source material can be utterly SHREDDED, and the movie still can be a classic... like blade runner!

Hurm, never knew this was in the making. Might end up being decent.

Wahlberg and Neeson though? Gimme Ryan Gosling as Case and Stephen Lang as Armitage.

Michael Fassbender or Guy Pearce as Peter Riviera
Michelle Williams or Rooney Mara as Linda Lee

Who'd be good for Molly? Carano would fit if she could act. Theron would be great, if a little overused. Ah well...

i kinda thought carano was pretty good in that haywire movie. yeah there's room for improvement, but she's new to this i think she can get there. in a few years, with a good coach, i think she could do wonder woman too.

I actually haven't seen Carano in anything but her mini cameo in Blood&Bone. Might need to rent Haywire someday.

@YOUNGBL00D

Star wars and other sci-fi films were made by Kubrick Fans. They are nothing more than a Fan-art to me.
