A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near future [the year 2020], where the sport of boxing has gone hi-tech, “Real Steel” stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

looks awesome. bay should take notes. you are supposed to be able to tell which robot is fighting which...transformers should be less complicated and more streamlined in the movies. not that i don't like the movies (i even enjoyed rotf) but they are way too complicated to understand what is going on...

@blueorangeny: It's based off the rock em sock em robots and an old twilight zone episode.

It looks good but hopefully not cliched out

I don't see the appeal of this movie at all. @AsianAvenger, looks riddled with cliches to me... Hugh Jackman has picked some trash scripts in my opinion...

Wonder if robot boxing will be ruined by too many weight classes, too many titles, over-inflated main event purses that only allow for one fight worth watching per card, and paper champions who spend more time ducking top tier opponents than fighting meaningful fights in order to hold on to their fake ass belts.... Sorry, soap box moment..

@TheZig
yeah it is the "i am a cool kid who knows better" attitude found in cheesy low budget childflicks.

I'll watch it for the sake of the awesome robots though

@Spidey91- Everybody loes boxing robots. It's like parfeit. I don't know nobody that don't like parfeit.

This is like that TV show that was on a few years ago that all the geeks at Georgia Tech had viewing parties for.

Sorta like Terminator 2 meets Rocky. I'll reserve judgement.

That looks [frick]in poo!

Child actors should take a back seat!

Prepare for schmalzy, gooey, cheesy lines sandwiched between crappy father and sons sayings. Not fussed one bit...and that is a first for me! Excuse the sinisism guys
