Battle: Los Angeles is inspired by the 1942 "attack" on Los Angeles that has become known as
"The Battle of Los Angeles," an incident which involved the U.S. military strafing the skies over L.A. with anti-aircraft fire for more than an hour without ever hitting any targets. At the time, the U.S. military thought we were being invaded by the Japanese. Today, the incident has been ruled a "false alarm" triggered by "war nerves," but many believe that the military was shooting at a UFO or multiple UFOs (and a photo that ran in the
L.A. Times appears to show spotlights focusing on
a flying saucer).
Battle: Los Angeles stars
Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Michael Pena, Bridget Moynahan, Lucas Till, and singer-turned-actor
Ne-Yo.
Battle: Los Angeles opens March 11
