Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which "Tributes" must fight with one another until one survivor remains. Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentor ship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she's ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love. THE HUNGER GAMES is directed by Gary Ross, and produced by Nina Jacobson's Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. Suzanne Collins' best-selling novel, the first in a trilogy published by Scholastic that has over 16 million copies in print in the United States alone, has developed a massive global following.

Not exactly what you would call epic, but I'm sold enough to say looking forward to this one. The Hunger Games hits theaters March 23rd.

For those who think this is some teen romance stuff, forget it its not Twilight. Murder & Mayhem on live TV in a dystopian future is what it is. It is also about power, control, corruption. Donald Sutherland plays the evil president, Woody Harrelson plays a former Hunger Games winner that is a drunk, I think that casting is very spot on. If you have any doubts, read the books, you will be hooked. Everyone I have told about the books who have read it said the same thing all the time, that they could not put it down at all.

The third book in this series was the only one that I was ever actually invested in. The only point in the first book that was ever actually interesting was the part with the mutated wolves.

Too much money put into this movie -- it will be butchered to appeal to a large audience. Ug.

I can't wait!

I bet everyone who called this gay has never read the books.
This is NOTHING like Twilight.
Yes, there is a love story involved, but there is ALWAYS a love story.
It is an amazing book.

And, this movie will be the best this year.

Jennifer Lawrence is fantastic.
Josh Hutcherson is great.

The whole cast, the story, everything is wonderful.

@tweeeeenkies3:
I have read all 3 books, and there ARE a few Twilight similarities. Like the Team Gale Team Peeta shit.

I liked the 1st book best
Oarsis
Oarsis - 2/2/2012, 3:43 PM
@Supes17...The whole "Team Gale, team Peeta" crap, is just a bunch of raging hormonal teenage girls, being stupid.

I hate that.

I loved the 1st book!
The 2nd was my favorite though

Ok, I'm wary but hopeful. It could be good. I'm also curious how they're going to do all the kids-killing-kids scenes and keep it family friendly.
