Paul Bettany Joining The Cast Of Wally Pfister's TRANSCENDENCE
Paul "JARVIS" Bettany is in negotiations to join Johnny Depp in Warner Bros.' upcoming sci-fi film Transcendence, which is the directorial debut of The Dark Knight Trilogy cinematographer Wally Pfister.
Johnny Depp recently committed to starring in the Warner Bros.-distributed sci-fi film Transcendence, which will be cinematographer Wally Pfister's (The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception) directorial debut. Filming is expected to begin this April. Now, according to Deadline, the talented Paul Bettany (A Beautiful Mind) is in negotiations to star opposite Depp. It was previously reported that the film will focus on three scientists, with the latter cast as one and the former (presumably) as another. The search for a female lead was said to be down to Emily Blunt, Rebecca Hall and Rooney Mara back in December, but we have yet to hear if any of them have landed the part. Transcendence's plot details have been kept under wraps, though it is known that Depp's character has his mind uploaded onto a "supercomputer". Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are executive producing, with Alcon Entertainment's Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson producing. The script was written by Jack Paglen. Bettany is also known for voicing JARVIS in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and will next play the character in May 3rd's Iron Man 3.
