POWER RANGERS: New International Posters & Banners Spotlight The Dinozords While Adding An Unexpected Twist
Lionsgate's Power Rangers arrives in China this week and ahead of its Friday debut, new international banners and posters have been released, spotlighting the individual Dinozords. Come take a look!
Despite having the ninth best domestic opening weekend of the year ($40.3M) and a extremely warm reception from fans, the competition from Disney's Beauty and the Beast proved to be a little too much for the Power Rangers as the film's domestic box office has essentially topped out around $84.7 million with its worldwide haul currently at $135.4 million, which isn't exactly anywhere near ideal for a potential sequel.
Fortunately, there are still two major international markets left on the theatrical release calendar in China and in Japan, which could considerably alter the fate of the Dean Israelite-directed feature. The China release is this weekend (followed by Japan on July 15), so we should have a much better idea on whether or not a second adventure with Zordon's chosen five is still on the table by Monday at the latest, if not sooner.
While you wait, a handful of new Chinese character posters and banners for the film have been released along with a new theaterical one-sheet and some of the new artwork comes with an unexpected wrinkle.
The new batch of character banners showcase each individual Ranger in front of their respective Dinozord, but it looks as though the dinosaurs have been swapped out for local legendary beasts as the Red Ranger is pictured with a Dragon, the Yellow Ranger is pictured with a Tiger, the Blue Ranger is spotted with a Qilin, the Pink Ranger is pictured with a Phoenix, and the Black Ranger is pictured with both a Tortoise and a Snake.
