It's Morphin' Time!
In a year jam-packed with comic book movies, it's easy to forget that the big-screen revival of the Power Rangers is also expected to arrive in theaters during the busy summer of 2016. Up until now, not much has been revealed about the joint-production between Lionsgate & Saban Films, but now The Wrap has learned that director Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) is in advanced negotiations to direct the third theatrical Power Rangers adventure. Israelite is said to be a big fan of the franchise and hopes to bring a fresh voice to the beloved property.
Ashley Miller & Zack Stentz, best known for their work on Thor & X-Men: First Class, are penning the script. With the highly anticipated film expected to arrive in July 2016, expect to start hearing casting announcements sometime sooner than later and stay tuned to CBM to hear the news as it breaks.
The long-running Power Rangers franchise, which recently launched its twenty-second season, originally kicked off back in 1993 with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a series that quickly became a worldwide phenomenon and starred Austin St. John, Walter Jones, David Yost, Amy Jo Johnson, and Thuy Trang as the superpowered teenagers.
