John Carter was written and directed by Andrew Staton, and it was his first live action feature film.

Andrew Stanton is also known for directing A Bug's Life, Finding Nemo, and Wall-E. However, directing animated features become more of a team and company based effort than it is one man's film.

In the case of Tomorrowland, written and directed by Brad Bird (known for the Iron Giant, the Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol), we have a man known for making some of the most iconic animated films of the current era. His work on Mission Impossible was alright, but the movie was ultimately forgettable to me.

However, people from animation are still visual geniuses, and its clear that both people I mentioned can be great storytellers. I'm eager for Tomorrowland, and Brad Bird is my pick for Episode 9 director.

(also something to mention, Phil Lord and Chris Miller also originated in animation, and went on to write and direct for the 21 Jump Street movies, the Lego Movie, and soon the new Flash movie)

Movie looks wicked, just needs a marketing push. Brad Bird has yet to disappoint me.
