In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy (Kinnaman) is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex's life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

RoboCop will be directed by Jose Padilha and star Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) in the lead role of Alex Murphy/Robocop. The film also stars: Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Kenneth Williams, Jennifer Ehle, Jay Baruchel and Abbie Cornish.

Watched this film in cinema and I liked it, I thought it would be one of those I could watch all the time now and then but it really isnt, needs a sequel

with little tweakings in the story and this could´ve been a sequel to the previous Robocops, and as such it wouldn´t be a total waste.

@VictorHugo, I was thinking the same thing. Why did it need to be Alex Murphy?
It could have been a completely different character. 30 years after the original Robocop, the program is revived once again, a new subject is chosen, a new Robocop. Alex Murphy is somewhere in a where-house, deactivated but they could bring him in in the sequel so that we can a team up with old and new Robocop. Ahh, dreams.....

But then the movie would have been fun instead of this bland, boring and gritty piece of shit that we got and we can't have that...

@DarthSandwich

Exactly, old Robocop could´ve been revived (if he´s abandoned in a junkyard) to help new Robocop destroy the New OCP.

I loved this movie, much more than I do the original 'Robocop'. I can't stomach ultra-violence and I own that-I could barely sit through the early scene in which the businessman is completely ransacked by accident as a result of the robot malfunctioning-so this suited me. I adored the socio-political commentary, even if it was a bit signposted. I really want it to get a sequel, but unfortunately at this point I doubt it will.

This movie was a weak assed interpretation that embodied none of the things that made the original great. I was on board for a reboot because of the cheesy stop animation effects being redone with todays cgi, but I was greatly disappointed in this soulless effort. Let it die in peace and go to the mediocre limbo of FX cable movie reruns it deserves. Anyone who says this is better than the original is deluded and their opinion should forever be disregarded in future grownup discussions on movies.

I bought the Blu-Ray a few days ago and I really enjoyed it. I think the only people who disliked it were hose who were grown up on and/or familiar whit the original. I can barely remember the original so I enjoyed it, I think it gets way too much hate. I hope they do a sequel or even a DREDD team up film.

Had such great potentials, but the story SUCKED so bad. The props/costumes were so incredibly made and thought out.
