New Details Emerge On Jay Baruchel's ROBOCOP Role As He Nears A Deal

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen, Dark Shadows) had joined the cast of RoboCop as "Maddox", the man who trains Alex Murphy (set to be played by Joel Kinnaman (The Killing, Safe House)). At the same time, it was mentioned that Jay Baruchel was in talks for a role, and thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, we now have details on who he will play as the actor nears a deal. According to the site, his role will be, "the head of marketing for Omnicorp, the company that is building the police cyborg." An interesting part for an actor best known for taking on comedic roles in the likes of Knocked Up and Tropic Thunder. He joins a cast which includes Hugh Laurie, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman and Abbie Cornish.

I think it's hilarious when people say "it won't be as good as the original". Seriously? The original is not really that good, at the time- sure, but with the solid cast we have here and right direction it will blow away the original. EASY.

@mattattack why do you think thats hilarious? Robocop is a cult classic and still gets play to this day. If it wasn't good they wouldn't be spending the money to do a remake.

Oh, nice. I have the feeling he's the one OCP that ends up getting killed by Boddicker (If he's in it.)

Ok but who are going to play the villains?

Baruchel could play the one who gets shot by ED-209.

Oh damn. I thought he was gonna be robocop and you all were for it. That would definitely not work. but it might work better for another role, thought to be honest I am not stoked by the cast so far, but I have hope!

EVERYONE GO SEE "GOON". incredible hockey movie that flew under the radar last year - and is streaming on Netflix now.

even if he gets on your nerves, he did an amazing job, the whole film is hilarious, BRUTAL, and loaded with heart.
