New Details Emerge On Jay Baruchel's ROBOCOP Role As He Nears A Deal
We already knew that Jay Baruchel (The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Goon) was in talks to join the cast of director Jose Padilha's RoboCop, but new details on his surprising role in the remake have been revealed as he closes in on a deal to star.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen, Dark Shadows) had joined the cast of RoboCop as "Maddox", the man who trains Alex Murphy (set to be played by Joel Kinnaman (The Killing, Safe House)). At the same time, it was mentioned that Jay Baruchel was in talks for a role, and thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, we now have details on who he will play as the actor nears a deal. According to the site, his role will be, "the head of marketing for Omnicorp, the company that is building the police cyborg." An interesting part for an actor best known for taking on comedic roles in the likes of Knocked Up and Tropic Thunder. He joins a cast which includes Hugh Laurie, Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman and Abbie Cornish.
