Hahaha @@ Ror I was just about to say "This feels like Total Recall...just not the good one!"

That being said, I like all of the actors in this film. I just can't get past how good they made the blue/gray suit look, and then said, "no, way to classic, let's make it stealthy and black and tactical!"

I understand the practicality of the black, but come on. It's robocop. How practical should you really make it?

I'm just having a laugh.

That hand bothers me, I hope they make the voice more 'robotic' and this version looks very PG 13. I think the car bomb 'origin accident' is a bit of a softer touch and I worry it may set the tone for the entire film. As it is, the reaction to the previous footage has been extremely poor.

I hope it's good, though.
Who doesn't want to see a good film?

IDK about this...I go to the movies to be surprised and amazed, not to have the same old story told to me with better SFX. Are all these remakes really banking on the power of nostalgia to sell? Maybe that and the belief that young people who haven't seen the originals will check it out.

Hollywood is too spooked to handle original properties nowadays, especially when it costs so much to make these kinds of flicks. This all goes back to the Psycho remake in 2000. Before that, nobody ever thought to remake good movies for the newer generation.

At least in the new Psycho, we got to see Anne Heche's butthole. :P What is new Robocop going to do that we haven't seen before, I wonder...

You're right, Oxbow.

Hollywood simply plays it safe, and only cares really about the bottom line. That means banking off nostalgia to trick you into the seats and get that big opening. Quality comes second. They use like some sort of inbred talent pool of people and products they know and have already used.

That's why the box-office usually seems so stale.

Surprisingly enough I saw this headline earlier:

"GRAVITY is now the year's top-grossing movie at the domestic box office which is NOT a sequel/prequel/remake."

I wonder if that will shake them up?

TRUTH-THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL THAT THEY CAN EVER TOP THE ORIGINAL ROBOCOP, BUT SEEING THEM DO A DIFFERENT TAKE CAN BE COOL AN I'LL GIVE IT A GO. REMAKES WILL HAPPEN EVEN AFTER WE ARE OLD AN GREY. WE LOVE TO HATE THESE REMAKES REBOOTS OR WHATEVER NAMES THEY'LL COME UP WITH IN THE FUTURE. :)

Okay...the movie looks like a cool sci-fi. And I was actually impressed he can actually DO that robot voice too!! I'm most definitely watching this movie but mostly because it has me intrigued, and whether it sucks or not, we still have the first movie any way so...nothing to lose here.

@humperdink

lol yes i'm joking.

Gravity deserves all the praise it's getting, and I hope it's a swift kick in the rear to all the Hollywood studios who are half-assing it and playing it safe. It looks like they are losing money on their remakes anyway now. If they are going to be in the buisness of storytelling, they might as well tell an original story with some meaning and heart. LIFE'S TOO SHORT FOR ANYTHING ELSE.

Now, I'm off to go get ready for an early screening of Thor TDW! Later, gents...
