From La Femme Nikita and The Professional to The Fifth Element, writer/director Luc Besson has created some of the toughest, most memorable female action heroes in cinematic history. Now, Besson directs Scarlett Johansson in Lucy, an action-thriller that tracks a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.

Starring Scarlett Johannson, Morgan Freeman and Analeigh Tipton, Luc Besson's Lucy is set to be released on August 8th, 2014 July 25th, 2014.

I'm probably the only one thinking this, but this movie seems very similar to the anime Elfen Lied. Mostly because of the main characters of the respective works, especially the fact they are both named Lucy.

Either way, this movie will be interesting.

This film is actually based on a disproven scientific concept that we only use 10% of our brains. It's been scientifically proven that we wouldn't even be able to survive on 10% of our brains and there is no amount of the brain that isn't used and therefore no potential to be unlocked, but this film's main character undergoes exactly that. She unlocks the remaining 90% of her brain functions and that's total bullshit.

The poster is a plot-hole. The trailer suggest she's beyond a single pimple at this stage and should not have one.

She acts better than Megan Fox and Jennifer Lopez.

No one can beat those acting levels.

This film is going to be more intense that The Prestige and Taxi Driver (together)

The scene were Lucy raises her hand and then all of the agents get knocked out oh my ... it is Oscar worthy alone for that

What Novacropsfan is true. Neuroscience has long since put that idea to rest.

However I even back in the past when you would hear people use the anecdote I always thought that it would be an interesting basis for a movie.

There have been others who kind of went there a little. Like Powder. And Phenomenon.

But in this Scarjo gets godlike powers... for novelties sake alone this might be worth a look.
