It looks like Warner Bros. has finally settled on a director for their big-screen take on DC's Fastest Man Alive, as according to THR Seth Grahame-Smith is in negotiations to make his feature debut with The Flash. The best-selling author will also write the script.

The LEGO Movie duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller already wrote a treatment for the film and were also eyeing it as a possible directorial project, but it seems they've jumped ship to Disney to focus on taking the helm on the Han Solo origin movie.

The Flash currently has a March 3, 2018 release date and will star Ezra Miller in the title role. The character will first debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and then feature more prominently in Justice League Part 1, which will be released in the summer of 2017.

Props to anyone who can score a major tentpole CBM as their directorial debut!

Trying to stay optimistic.

He's working on Lego Batman with Lord and Miller so likely they suggested him as the director.

This feels like a more MCUish director pick. Unproven talent that maybe the studios see something.

Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst.

Idk a big tentpole film for a rookie lol. His Abraham vampire hunter script doesn't inspire confidence.....hope he does well. Cautiously optimistic

This guy made Dark Shadows and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

If this site bashed Marvel for hiring a guy with 2 movies over 90% in RT and an Oscar nominated short film I can't wait to see how they'll react to his guy

[frick] it took me 3 posts

Interesting choice by Warner Bros. I wonder if he'll land the gig or not.

So he wrote the actual novels "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" and "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" so that's neat because those were really well done novels.

His screenplay's inspire less confidence but I'm willing to peg the blame for those on the other writers (Simon Kinberg being the other writer for Abe).

Looks like he's also either writing or directing a Five Night's At Freddy's movie which is neat.

@DrDoom

I read that but he was never received credit for the Fant4stic script and wasn't ever interview about that so likely his script was tossed and they used Kinberg.

Like 2 days ago there was a report ( still nothing official) of taikiki waititi (or whatever) set to direct Thor 3 and everyone took the opportunity to bash Marvel

Oh. Well good for Thor 3. I read that and thought you meant someone who already signed on when you said he was doing a MCU film.

Slow down, this guy adding some words to Josh Tranks FF script has everyone in a tizzy, but the Spider-Man directors making one of the largest flops this year doesn't worry anyone?

Color me confused.

I think we can blame the script issues on Kinberg than the guy who wrote the book it was based on for Abe Lincoln.

Yea when i saw he polished Fant4stic, I nearly spat out my drink. Then I remember we always heard Kinberg talking about him writing Fant4stic and nothing about Seth so why wouldn't he have been interviewed about Fant4stic?

Likely Kinberg came in after Seth. It's like Goyer's situation except Goyer gets some credit for Batman V Superman.

Still wish Lord and Miller would be doing this instead of the worst idea for a Star Wars movie.

This just reeks bad.

He'll overhaul Lord & Miller's draft AND it's a directorial debut from the guy who did VAMPIRE HUNTER and the story of DARK SHADOWS? Lmfao.
