Alice Eve is one of quite a few British actors to sign up to join the cast of J.J Abrams' Star Trek sequel. Another is Benedict Cumberbatch, who Eve worked with in the 2006 movie Starter For 10. In an interview with MTV she talks about working with him again on a very different type of movie..
"I'm very excited to work with him again. He's so very funny, Ben. I don't know if you remember his character in 'Starter for 10,' but he was so funny. Like King of the Geeks, but he did it so well, and I found a lot of that hard to get through because he was so funny. I like him very much."
You get the impression she thinks he's funny? Anyway, nothing is really known about the role Eve - who was in the running to play Emma Frost in
X-Men: First Class - will play in the
Star Trek sequel, and she certainly isn't dropping any hints. But she does talk about the feeling of joining such a tight knit cast, and seems determined not to let any fans down..
When there's a group of people who you can spend time with and work with and get to know, a real good experience, it's kind of like going back to university or something, when everyone has got the same objective. There's a lot of energy, and it's a nice thing to be a part of that group. That's the thing that excites me most about it. Obviously, there is a huge legacy there with 'Star Trek' and the fanatics, so hopefully they'll be satisfied."
"I feel incredibly lucky. I would say it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It's not once-in-a-lifetime, but it is rare. It's one of life's great pleasures to enjoy the group you work with, because we all know what it's like when you don't."
Hopefully some actual details about who all of these newcomers are playing will filter through soon. Alice Eve can be seen next in
The Raven, followed by
Men In Black 3.
