Australian director Julius Avery; whose upcoming supernatural WWII film Overlord received positive reactions from CinemaCon, will yet again be re-teaming with illustrious producer JJ Abrams - this time on an original superhero project titled Heavy.

Unsurprisingly, with JJ Abrams and Bad Robot's involvement information on the project is scarce but the film is being described as both a "thriller" and a "subversive take on the superhero genre"Heavy comes from a script by writer Daniel Casey who is also set to adapt Ed Brubaker and Sean Philips' Incognito and Kill or Be Killed.

Insiders say that the studio hopes to have the film in front of cameras this year, though there is no current word on cast or expected release date.

Overlord will hit theatres 25th October 2018.

I'm cool with another superhero film (and would be excited for one).

The thing that makes me pause is that it's supposed to be a "subversion of the genre" which makes me a bit worried. Last time we had something like that, we got the DCEU, and we saw how well that turned out =/

I'll keep watch though...

If it's good, then count me in.
